New Delhi, 12 May 2021 – With the rise of COVID cases throughout the country and the postponement of various entrance and recruitment exams, the UPSC 2021 Prelims (CSE) exam is hanging by a thread. The Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination (UPSC CSE) was initially scheduled to be conducted on 27th June 2021. However, Civil Service aspirants have been demanding the postponement of UPSC CSE prelims 2021. Although no official announcement has been made regarding the postponement of the exams, the request for the same has been flooding the walls of various social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Even a few experts are suggesting the possibility of the postponement of the UPSC IAS exam due to the fatal second wave of COVID-19.

Besides these, other aspirants have also started raising their voices in favour of the postponement of the UPSC CSE exam.
Followed by the above, another candidate tweeted the plight of the raging pandemic and the request to reconsider the current exam schedule.
Based on the current scenario and the previous steps taken by UPSC, it is being assumed that UPSC may postpone the CSE prelims exam 2021 amid the second wave of COVID-19. Although UPSC has not yet made any announcement on the postponement of CSE prelims 2021, the commission has recently postponed some of the tests including interviews of the civil services examination 2020.
It is most likely that UPSC will soon take a decision and provide clarity on whether the exam will be conducted as per the schedule or not. As of now, the CSE prelims exam is scheduled to be held on 27th June 2021 whereas the mains examinations are scheduled to be conducted for five days starting from 17th September 2021.
