WBJEE 2022 exam date has been revised. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board is expected to conduct West Bengal JEE at the end of April 2022. As per the latest update directly from the authorities, the exams have now been postponed from 23rd April to 30th April 2022. The exams will be conducted in two shifts, in pen-and-paper based mode. Paper 1 (Mathematics) shall be conducted in the morning shift from 11.00 am to 01.00 pm whereas Paper 2 (Physics & Chemistry) will be held from 02.00 pm to 04.00 pm.
After the exam, the authority will publish the provisional answer key along with the response sheets on the official website i.e. wbjee.nic.in. WBJEE 2022 result will tentatively be declared around the fourth week of May 2022 and it will be followed by the counselling of the successful candidates. What is the Purpose of Conducting WBJEE?
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board acts as the conducting body of WBJEE every year, which is a state-level engineering entrance exam. Aspirants looking for admission in UG level engineering programmes like B.Tech, BE, B.Pharma, and B.Arch in the institutions located across West Bengal take this exam. WBJEE 2022 will be conducted to fill 34,891 seats (reserved & non-reserved) available in different colleges and universities and more than 125,000 candidates applied for this exam.

WBJEE – Eligibility
Candidates need to fulfill certain criteria in order to apply for the West Bengal JEE. These eligibility criteria depend on many factors through which examination conducting authority shortlists the candidates.
Given below are the basic eligibility criteria required to be fulfilled by each and every aspirant for WBJEE 2022.
1. Citizenship: A candidate willing to apply for WBJEE must be a citizen of India.
2. Age: The lower age limit in order to apply is 17 yrs. There is no upper age limit defined for candidates (except Marine Engineering)
Note- The upper age limit for candidates applying for Marine Engineering is 25 years as of December 31, 2022.
1. General Education Qualification
- Candidates must have qualified the 10+2 examination through regular mode from a recognized board with physics and mathematics along with any one of these as compulsory subjects – chemistry/biology/biotechnology/computer science/technical vocational subject/computer applications.
- The minimum marks required by a candidate in class 12th are 45% (40% for candidates from SC/ST and OBC category) in all the three major subjects.
- Candidates must have studied and passed English subject at 10+2 level with at least 30% marks.
WBJEE – Registration
Eligible candidates can register for the WBJEE 2022 online on the official website only. The steps to register for West Bengal JEE are given below:

2. Enter details such as name of parents, gender, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID
3. Choose a password and enter a security question
4. Click the ‘Submit’ button after verifying the entered details
5. On successful registration, a candidate will receive an application number through email and SMS.

WBJEE – Correction of Application Form
It is mandatory to submit the application form correctly to participate in West Bengal JEE 2022. However, if in case there are certain mistakes in the application form after submission, they can be edited by candidates later. The conducting body opens the application form correction window for a limited period. Also, there are certain fields that can be rectified post submission. These fields are:

WBJEE – Admit Card
The admit card for WBJEE 2022 was made available online on the official website i.e. wbjeeb.nic.in. It is mandatory for every candidate to download this admit card as an identification proof for the examination. The authority doesn’t send any hard copy of the admit card to candidates. Therefore, candidates need to take a printout of the admit card. Also, every candidate must carry this admit card along with any one of the government identification proofs listed below:

WBJEE – Examination Pattern
The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is divided into two papers with each paper distributed in three different sections. WBJEE exam pattern remains almost the same every year.

WBJEE – Marking Scheme
The question paper of West Bengal JEE has been divided into three different categories and every category has a different marking scheme. Given below are the category-wise explanations of WBJEE 2022 marking scheme.
Category I –
- Candidates have to choose one correct answer out of the four given options to score 1 mark for each correct response.
- Negative marking in Category I is of 1/4 marks
Category II –
- In this section, each correct response earns 2 marks for the candidates. They have to identify the correct answer from four given options.
- Negative marking of 1/2 mark is imposed in this category
Category III –
- In this category, test-takers have to choose two options to record the correct response. 2 marks are credited to their score if they choose both the correct options.
- If both the selected options are wrong, no negative marking is done.
- If one of the selected options is correct, still candidates score no marks.
WBJEE – Response Sheet
The West Bengal JEE Board releases the response sheet of students along with the provisional answer key. The individual response sheet of each test-taker encompasses the responses marked by them in the West Bengal JEE exam. With response sheets, it becomes easy for the candidates to cross-check their answers with the official answer key. The response sheet is issued to the candidates on request and after the payment of response sheet issuance fee of Rs.500 through DD in favour of ‘West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board’, payable at Kolkata.

WBJEE – Provisional Answer Key
Along with the response sheet of WBJEE 2022, the West Bengal JEE Board also releases the answer key. Candidates can download the model or provisional answer key from the official website only. With the help of this answer key, candidates can cross-check if the answers marked by them are correct or not. Hence, they can estimate their WBJEE score prior to the result declaration. Also, the candidates are allowed to raise an objection against answer(s) by paying a fee amount of Rs. 500 (per question) through online credit/debit or net banking.
WBJEE – Result
After the publication of the final answer key, the West Bengal Board will declare the result of WBJEE 2022. After the result announcement in the 4th week of May 2022, the test-takers can check the same online on the official website. In order to access the WBJEE result, candidates will need to login to the website with their usual login credentials produced while registration. The result for WBJEE 2022 will be declared in the form of rank cards individually for each candidate. The rank card will have details such as application number, name, score in each subject, and an overall rank of the candidates.
WBJEE – Merit List
West Bengal JEE Board prepares General Merit Rank (GMR) and Pharma Merit Rank (PRM). GMR is prepared on the basis of marks secured by the aspirants in Paper I and II. It is used for admission in engineering, technology, and architecture colleges. However, pharmacy admission in Jadavpur University is also done on the basis of GMR.
Pharma Merit Rank (PMR), on the other hand, is prepared on the basis of candidates’ performance in Paper-II only. It is used for pharmacy admission in West Bengal based colleges.
WBJEE – Counselling
After the merit list publication, WB Examination Board will invite the successful candidates for counselling and seat allotment process.
