NIFT counselling is the process through which eligible candidates are allotted seats in 16 National Institute of Fashion Technology campuses across India. The seats are allotted on the basis of rank obtained in the NIFT entrance exam and also according to the reservation of seats for various categories. Candidates must complete the registration for the counselling process on the official website of NIFT. The NIFT counselling is conducted in various rounds and hence, candidates must know the precise details of each stage of the counselling process. 

Previously, the counselling of NIFT was scheduled to commence from the last week of May but due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, it seems that the counselling dates will certainly be extended. NIFT will soon confirm the exact dates of the counselling process and candidates are urged to keep a constant check on the notifications available on the official website of the NIFT.

NIFT Counselling 2022 – How to Register for Counselling?

Eligible candidates who have secured qualifying rank in the NIFT cutoffs must fill the registration form for counselling on the official website of ‘NIFT by following the below mentioned guidelines:

1. Aspirants may visit the official website of NIFT and click on the ‘counselling registration’ link. 
2. You must enter credentials like application number, date of birth and password to successfully register. 
3. Candidates also must opt to fill the desired choices of NIFT campuses. 
4. After this process is completed, an automatic system letter will be generated which will feature the details of the Nodal officer, location of the counselling centre and also the list of documents which candidates must carry at the time of visiting the counselling centre for verification.

NIFT Counselling 2022 – Documents Required at the Time of Counselling

Eligible candidates must carry the following mentioned documents at the time of counselling. Inability to do so might create obstacles for candidates to complete the counselling process smoothly. The authority at the counselling centre will verify the documents and check their authenticity. After the successful completion of the verification process, eligible candidates will be allotted seats in the respective campuses. Documents required are:

1. Valid PWD certificate
2. Copy of the generated letter received by the eligible candidates at the time of the registration.
3. Photographs (2 passport size photographs and 4 stamp-size photographs)
4. Academic certificates  (10th certificate, 10 + 2 certificates).
5. Candidates opting for the Bachelors of Fashion Technology course must submit the marksheet with passing marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
6. 10 + 2  leaving certificate (applicable for domicile purposes)
7. Caste certificate validated by the prescribed authority for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates.
8. EWS (Economically weaker section) certificate validated by a prescribed authority.
9. Undertaking of the candidate opting for provisional admission.
10. Undertaking of the candidates according to the provisions for Anti-ragging.
11. Undertaking for the withdrawal of admission.
12. Medical fitness certificate of the candidate.

NIFT Counselling – Seat Availability 2022

NIFT will soon announce the cutoffs of the entrance exam 2022 after the final phase of the examination (situation test/group discussion/personal interview), which has been postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Aspirants must check previous year cutoffs which will give them a fair idea of how they will fare in the counselling process. It is expected that if a higher number of candidates clear the exam then the cutoffs will be set on the higher side and it will eventually leave an impact on the functioning of the counselling process.

Important Guidelines Regarding the NIFT Counselling 2022

1. Eligible candidates must fill the counselling registration online. No offline mode of registration is available.
2. Eligible candidates appearing for the 1st round of counselling need not pay any fees whatsoever. However, candidates who will appear for the 2nd round of counselling must pay INR 5000 as registration fee.
3. Candidates who withdraw from the allotted seats in the first round (after taking the admissions) won’t be considered eligible to appear for the further rounds of counselling.
4. Candidates must reach the counselling centre at or before 9 AM for the document verification.
5. Eligible candidates must physically report at the counselling centre or else their candidature will be cancelled and the seat will be allotted to the next candidate (according to the merit list).
6. Seat available for any concerned category will not be allotted to candidates from other categories.

In case of withdrawal of seats:

• Candidates who will withdraw before the allotted time will be refunded the full fees, except for the registration fee. 
• However, if the candidate withdraws from the seat after the commencement of the last round of counselling, only security fee will be refunded.

Application for the counselling session of NIFT 2022 can be done on the official website of NIFT. You must click on the link mentioning ‘counselling session 2022’ and then, fill in the credentials like application number, date of birth and the password. Eventually, you will receive a computer generated letter, which you must carry on the day of counselling.

Q. Can I withdraw from the allotted seat in the NIFT counselling?

Yes, you can withdraw from the allotted seat in the NIFT counselling but you won’t be eligible to appear for the further rounds of counselling. Also, candidates must withdraw from the seat before the allotted time to get a refund of the fees they have paid.
