SNAP Eligibility – Qualification, Institute-wise Criteria, Reservation

Symbiosis International University (SIU) prescribes the SNAP eligibility criteria for admission into PG-level management programmes. SIU has set common eligibility criteria for taking SNAP. However, there are certain additional requirements that need to be fulfilled for some Symbiosis institutes. Fulfilling the SNAP eligibility criteria is a necessary requirement. Students must note that the application fee and the institute fee will not be refunded in case a candidate is found short of satisfying any eligibility criterion for SNAP 2020.

SNAP eligibility criteria will include a number of variables including the educational qualification, minimum score requirement in the qualifying exam, work experience requirement, domicile requirement and more. SNAP Eligibility Criteria 2020 

All the 16 Symbiosis institutes across India will have two major eligibility conditions. Moreover, there are some course-specific eligibility criteria that candidates must fulfil. Two major factors of the SNAP eligibility criteria are as follows. 

  1. Qualifying Degree 
  2. Minimum score required in the qualifying exam

Moreover, different Symbiosis institutes and courses may ask for other eligibility requirements that include:

  1. Work experience
  2. Bachelor’s degree in a specific discipline
  3. Domicile requirement
  4. Core subjects in class 12th

SIU is yet to release the eligibility criteria for SNAP 2020. However, there are rarely any chances of change in the SNAP eligibility. Still, if any changes are brought in the SNAP eligibility criteria 2020, we will be updating the same as soon as the SNAP information bulletin rolls out.

SNAP Eligibility – Common Eligibility Requirements

As already discussed, candidates must hold a qualifying exam degree and score. The common SNAP eligibility conditions accepted by all the Symbiosis institutes are mentioned below. 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION  

Candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline (or any other equivalent qualification) from a recognized institute/university. 

Final year graduation students whose results are awaited can also apply for SNAP 2020. However, they will be granted provisional admission (in case they qualify all the rounds of SNAP) and will be given admission confirmation once they present their graduation degree at the respective institute within the stipulated time frame.   

MINIMUM SCORE 

All the candidates belonging to the unreserved category must score a minimum of 50% in their graduation. Candidates belonging to SC and ST category will be eligible for a 5% relaxation, i.e. the minimum marks requirement for them would be 45% marks. 

AGE LIMIT  

SIU has not defined any age restriction to participate in the SNAP test. 

SNAP Eligibility – Additional Eligibility Conditions

For admission into some of the Symbiosis affiliated institutes, candidates have to satisfy some additional and specific eligibility criteria. The institute-wise additional eligibility criteria are as follows.

SNAP Eligibility – Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development

For admission in MBA in Infrastructure Development and Management at SCMHRD, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a specific discipline. All the candidates satisfying the common eligibility criteria along with having a bachelor’s degree in any of the below-mentioned disciplines are considered eligible:

  1. Engineering
  2. Technology
  3. Architecture
  4. Planning

For the purpose of admission in MBA in Business Analytics, candidates must have a work experience of at least two years after graduation. Candidates have to satisfy all the other common eligibility criteria set by Symbiosis International University.

SNAP Eligibility – Symbiosis Institute Of International Business

Candidates interested in admission in MBA in Energy and Environment at SIIB must have a bachelor’s degree in any of the specific disciplines mentioned below.  

  1. Engineering
  2. Technology
  3. Architecture
  4. Science (Environmental Science)

Candidates must also fulfil all the common eligibility conditions. 

SNAP Eligibility – Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies

Candidates belonging to Defence Category are eligible for 80% of the seat intake in SIMS. 10% of the intake is reserved for Open Category candidates while  the remaining 10% is reserved for Special Categories under Defence Quota.  

Candidates must note that students belonging to all those categories that are liable to hold reservation, as per the reservation policy of SIU, will not get any reservation benefits for admission into SIMS. Students under all the categories (other than the Defence Category) can take admission under the Open Category seats.

1. Defence General – Candidates who are sons/daughters/spouses of defence personnel belong to the Defence General Category. These candidates will be liable for a seat reservation of 80% in SIMS. Candidates will have to produce certificates for claiming their reservation.

2. Defence Special – Dependents of defence personnel who were killed in wartime, disabled in wartime, or having more than 50% disability, next of kin of service personnel who have died while in service, death being attributable to military service, are considered under the Defence Special Category. Candidates will have to produce certificates for claiming reservation.

SNAP Eligibility – Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management

Candidates interested in admission at SIOM must have completed their graduation in an engineering discipline while maintaining the score requirement as per the common eligibility criteria for SNAP 2020. Qualifying any of the following bachelor’s degree will make the candidate eligible for admission to MBA in Operations Management at SIOM:

  1. Bachelor’s of Engineering
  2. Bachelor’s of Technology

SNAP Eligibility – Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology

Candidates seeking admission at the Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology (SCIT) are marked eligible only if they have studied Mathematics as the core subject in class 12th (or equivalent). The common SNAP eligibility criteria set by SIU must be fulfilled along with satisfying the additional criterion set by the institute.

SNAP Eligibility – Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bangalore

Candidates who are applying for SNAP 2020 for admission into SIBM, Bangalore must have completed their 10+2 level education with any of the following as the core subjects.

  1. Mathematics
  2. Statistics

Thus, candidates who have completed 10+2 with Mathematics/Statistics and qualified bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST) are marked eligible for SIBM admission to MBA in Quantitative Finance.

SNAP Eligibility – Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune

Candidates interested to get admission in SIBM, Pune to pursue MBA (Leadership and Strategy) must have a work experience of four years (48 months) after the completion of graduation. The four years of work experience will be counted as on May 31, 2021.  

SNAP Eligibility – Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Nagpur

Similar to the admission into SIMS, the additional SNAP eligibility criterion is not mandatory to be fulfilled by all the candidates. However, if a candidate is a resident of Nagpur, he/she will be entitled for the 25% seats reserved for Nagpur-domiciles in SIBM Nagpur. All the common SNAP 2020 eligibility conditions including the qualifying degree and the minimum score requirements will remain the same for all the candidates.

Are International Candidates Eligible to Apply for SNAP 2020?

Candidates who have a qualifying bachelor’s degree from a foreign university are also eligible for admission based on SNAP 2020. However, such candidates will have to obtain the ‘Equivalence Certificate’ from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Other than that, all the other eligibility conditions remain the same for admission to PG-level management courses at SIU. Foreign Nationals  A person who is a permanent resident of a foreign country and has never held Indian citizenship. Foreign passport is a must for candidates belonging to this category. 
Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) A person who has a ‘Person of Indian Origin Card’ and he/she is a citizen of any country other than India is eligible under this category.
Overseas Citizens of India  (OCI) People who migrated from India and acquired the citizenship of any other country (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) and hold an OCI card can apply in this category.  
Non-Resident Indians (NRI) An Indian citizenship holder who has passed 10+2 from any other country can apply. Also, it is mandatory for NRIs to obtain one of their two qualifying degrees in a country other than India.

SNAP Eligibility – FAQs

✔️ Who will set the eligibility criteria for SNAP 2020?

Symbiosis International University prescribes the SNAP eligibility criteria for the purpose of PG-level management programme admissions. However, a few Symbiosis institutes will also have some additional eligibility criteria which are set by the institute itself.

✔️ Is there any minimum age requirement for SNAP 2020?

No. There is no minimum age requirement for admissions based on SNAP. However, candidates are required to satisfy other eligibility conditions and additional eligibility criterion, if any.

✔️ Who all are marked eligible for taking SNAP 2020?

Candidates qualifying bachelor’s degree in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible for the taking SNAP 2020. The SC/ST category candidates need to score 45% marks in their graduation.

✔️ How many times can I take SNAP?

Symbiosis International University has set no limit on the number of attempts for SNAP. However, an applicant can take SNAP only once in one admission cycle.

✔️ Am I eligible to take SNAP 2020 if my bachelor’s degree results are yet to be released?

Yes. However, candidates whose results are awaited will be given provisional admission. Final admission will be done after the candidate produces certain certificates within the admission deadlines of respective SNAP participating institutes.

✔️ I am not a domicile of Nagpur. Can I still get admission in the SIBM, Nagpur?

Yes, the seats for Nagpur domiciled candidates are reserved to an extent of 25%. The admission to the remaining 75% seats is granted on the basis of prevailing SNAP reservation policy and eligibility criteria only.
