UPCET Counselling – Detailed Process, Seat Reservations

UPCET Exam Date Announced: UPCET 2021 will be held on 18 May 2021. The last date to submit UPCET online admission forms is 30th April 2021 (11:59 pm).

As per the latest update, UPCET counselling 2021 will take place tentatively around the month of June 2021. The official dates related to running the counselling process and seat allotment process for UPCET 2021 is yet to be released by NTA.
Aspirants who qualify the UPCET 2021 exam will be called for the counselling and seat allotment process. Three institutes will be actively participating in the UPCET counselling process 2021:

1. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow
2. Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur
3. Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur

The counselling for UPCET 2021 will take place in online mode after the declaration of the UPCET result 2021. To appear for the UPCET counselling, candidates will be required to register themselves for the process. Also, the aspirants will be able to lock their preferred choice of colleges.

NTA will conduct the counselling and seat allotment process after verifying the documents of the candidates.  There will be four rounds for UPCET 2021 counselling and 2 spot rounds. The final seats will be alloted on the basis of the scores secured by the candidates in UPCET 2021, cut off scores, preferences of colleges and courses, and seat availability. UPCET is an important event as it opens up a path of opportunities for the candidates and gets admission to the first-year undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and lateral entry to second year UG programmes to professional courses at government, government-aided institutions, and private-unaided institutions affiliated to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) and other state universities based in Uttar Pradesh via the exam.

UPCET Counselling Eligibility Criteria

UPCET Counseling – Process in Detail

The official dates for the conduct of counselling and seat allotment process for UPCET 2021 is yet to be released by the NTA. The UPCET 2021 exam is scheduled to begin from June  and ontinue till August 2021. 

Candidates will find below the detailed UPCET 2021 counselling process . 

Step 1:

1. After NTA opens the counselling window, the candidates will have to register themselves for the counselling and seat allotment process in online mode. They can do so by visiting the official website of UPCET 2021.
2. Aspirants must enter their UPCET roll number, application number, date of birth, and their father’s name to complete the registration process.
3. After successful registration, the candidates have to fill in the other required information along with uploading the required documents.
4. The last step would be payment of the registration fee. The fee can be paid via online mode of payment, i.e. using credit card, debit card, or net banking. Candidates must keep in mind that the fee is refundable in nature (in case they are not allotted seats for any reasons). 
5. UPCET 2021 counselling fee for OBC and general category candidates is INR 20,000 and for SC and ST category candidates is INR 12,000. 

Step 2:

1. Aspirants will be now required to upload the required documents and get them verified in online mode. After document verification, the university will send a unique OTP to every candidate, which is to be used for the choice filling process.

2. The following documents are to be uploaded –

• Class 10 and class 12 certificates and mark sheets
• Category certificate (if applicable)
• Certificate or undertaking of medical fitness
• Character certificate
• Domicile certificate
• GDDA category certificate (if applicable)
• Income certificate (for economically weak candidates)
• Parents’ domicile certificate (if the candidate has passed qualifying exam outside Uttar Pradesh)
• Rural weightage certificate (if applicable)
• Sub category certificate (for freedom fighters, armed forces, and physically handicapped)
• UPCET 2021 admit card
• UPCET rank card 2021
• Other required documents

Step 3:

1. After document verification, the candidates will be able to fill in their preferred choices for their desired colleges and courses. 
2. Aspirants are required to use the OTP generated during the document verification round for choice filling.
3. Candidates must fill in as many choices as possible, as the seats will be allotted on the basis of the choices made by the candidates. 

Step 4:

1. In online mode, NTA will announce the round-wise seat allotment result for UPCET 2021. 
2. The authority will consider the UPCET 2021 scores, cut off scores, preferences of colleges and courses, and availability of seats while allotting the seats to the UPCET qualifiers.
3. The candidates will then have to select the seat allotment options from freeze, float, and withdrawal in order to confirm the admissions.
4. Freeze will be for candidates satisfied with the seats allotted to them, withdrawal option will be for candidates who wish to withdraw their admissions, and float option will be for candidates willing to upgrade their seats in the upcoming rounds of UPCET counselling 2021. 

Step 5:

1. The last step would be reporting at the respective allotted colleges to complete the admission process. Aspirants will be required to report at the colleges allotted to them on the dates specified by the university.
2. In case any candidate fails to be present for the admission process on the specified dates, their admissions will be automatically considered withdrawn. 

UPCET Counselling – Why are the spot rounds conducted during UPCET Counselling 2021?

The spot rounds of counselling will be conducted by NTA to fill in the vacant seats. The seats left vacant after the conduct of four rounds of counselling and seat allotment rounds will be filled during the spot counselling rounds. 

These spot rounds will be conducted in offline mode. The candidates will be required to register again for the spot rounds. Allotment of the seats will be done on the basis of the ranks secured by the candidates. 

The following candidates will be considered during spot counselling rounds –

1. Candidates who have not been allotted any seats in the previous rounds.
2. Candidates who got seats but failed to confirm their admissions.
3. Candidates who couldn’t participate in the counselling rounds due to some circumstances.

UPCET Counselling – Seat Reservation Criteria

During the counselling and seat allotment rounds, the university will follow the below mentioned seat reservation criteria. The seats will be allotted as per category in vertical and horizontal reservations.
