NEET 2021 Likely to be Postponed to Sept, Pending JEE Main Exams May Be Held in July-Aug

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET UG is expected to be postponed to September 2021. Also, the Ministry of Education is considering holding the pending exams of JEE Main 2021 in July and August.ย

While there has been no official announcement on both of these decisions yet, the Ministry of Education is reportedly in the process of contemplating a possible solution to holding these national-level exams amid COVID-19.ย

NEET UG 2021 to be Postponed to September?

The NEET 2021 exam is scheduled to be held on 1 August. However, the applications for the same have not been opened yet, hinting at a clear possibility of a postponement.ย

As per past trends, the NEET registration process begins in the month of December and the exam is held the following May. The candidates, therefore, get a long period of 5 months to register for the examination.ย

However, since the end of June is already approaching, candidates would barely get a month even if the NEET 2021 registrations open now. Hence, postponing the exam seems imminent.ย

Pending JEE Main Exams Likely in July-August?

The JEE Main exam is being conducted 4 times a year from 2021 onwards. This move was taken to offer flexibility to students and a chance for them to improve their scores. While the February and March sessions of JEE Main were conducted smoothly, the April and May sessions of the exam had to be postponed after the coronavirus pandemic hit the country.

As per sources, the government and exam authority plan to hold the first of the two pending JEE Main sessions in July-end or August-beginning. This will be followed by the final pending JEE Main session in August-end or September-beginning.ย

Amit Khare, Secretary, Higher Education, MoE, threw light on this possibility by stating โ€“ โ€œThe JEE Main exam (April edition) is likely to be conducted in July end orย latest by the first week of August. The second pending JEE Main is to be conducted within one week to 10 days.โ€
