New Delhi, 3 May 2021 โ Class 12 CBSE students have taken Twitter by storm, demanding the cancellation of board exams due to the extreme surge in COVID-19 cases. As a result, the popular social media platform Twitter has been flooded with trending hashtags like #CancelAllBoardExams, #cancel12thboardexams2021, #InternalAssessmentForAll. Class 12 students have also been tagging the HRD Ministry, PMO India, DR RP Nishank, and PMO India so that their requests reach the top-most authorities.
When Did This Trend Begin?
On 14th April 2021, in light of the surge in coronavirus cases, Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and CBSE announced the cancellation of the Class 10 board exam on Twitter.

In addition, he mentioned that Class 12th board exams have been postponed and students will be informed about the new schedule at a later date. As the COVID-19 cases have not gone down the chart since this initial announcement, students are now demanding the Board authorities to cancel CBSE Class 12 exams too.
Demands of CBSE Class 12 Students
CBSE Class 12 students are demanding a similar provision that has been provided to Class 10 students. As per the recently released criteria for marks distribution, CBSE Class 10 students will be promoted to the next class based on their internal assessment procedure and scores.
One of the students has shared her demand for exam cancellation on behalf of students of all respective boards on Twitter.
Another CBSE Class 12 student highlighted a great deal of mental pressure due to postponing an exam instead of cancellation during the time of COVID surge. The fear of getting contaminated and not getting timely treatment has been clearly portrayed in the below tweet.
Besides the multitude of studentsโ requests and demands, the All India Students Association has also come forward to support the demand of students. They have asked on Twitter, โWhy can’t the Modi Govt. for once understand the problems faced by Students & their parents? How will they prepare? Why can’t they just cancel all exams? Is it too much to ask for?โ
Even though the CBSE Class 12 students have been continuing to support the 12th Board exam cancellation trend, the final decision rests in CBSEโs hands. Therefore, students must keep a close eye on the official website of CBSE to get the recent updates on the exam schedule.
