New Delhi, 14 March 2022: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched a programme for children currently studying in class 9 across India. The โYoung Scientist Programmeโ or โYUva VIgyani KAryakramโ (YUVIKA) is a residential programme to encourage students to share and obtain knowledge across various fields associated with space exploration, such as space technology, space applications, and space science. The programme extends the application to young students, especially those belonging to rural areas, to help create wider awareness on various emerging trends in the arena of science and technology.

The YUVIKA 2022 residential programme is specially designed to encourage young students who aspire to pursue a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).ย
What is the duration of YUVIKA 2022 residential programme?
As per an announcement by ISRO, the programme is scheduled for a total of two weeks starting from May 16, 2022 to May 28, 2022. The programme will include experimental demonstrations, talks, discussions aroundย experiences shared by experts and scientists, feedback and practical sessions.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for YUVIKA-2022?
Candidates will be selected on the basis of the following parameters:
- Marks obtained in Class 8 final examination.
- Participation in science fair organised by the school, district, state or central government in the last three years.
- Prizes received in olympiads or science competitions (and equivalent) in the last three years.
- Winning performances in outdoor sports competitions conducted by the school, district, state or central government or registered sports federation in the last three years.ย
- Member of NCC or NSS in the last three years.
- Performance in online science quiz/zes.
- Preference would be given to students studying in schools located in panchayat areas.
How to Apply for YUVIKA-2022?ย
The registration process includes a total of four steps. Candidates are requested to go through each step very carefully.ย
Step 1: Enter the details for registration in the YUVIKA-2022 registration portal.
Step 2: Read the quiz instructions and attempt the online quiz within 48 hours of the online registration.
Note: Applications submitted without attempting the quiz will not be considered.
Step 3: Open the YUVIKA-2022 Login portal after 60 minutes of the quiz submission. Fill in the details, submit the application form, and download the submitted application form.
Step 4: Upload the required documents before the last date of submission.

Where will YUVIKA-2022 be conducted?
The YUVIKA-2022 is expected to be held at five distinct ISRO centres, including Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Space Application Centre (SAC), National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), and North-East Space Application Centre (NE-SAC).
