New Delhi, 14 May 2021 – The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has decided to postpone the Civil Services Prelims Examination 2021 to October 10, 2021.
The official notification issued by the commission on Thursday states that the new date of the UPSC CSE Prelims exam is October 10, 2021. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be conducted on June 27, 2021, but due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country, it has been postponed. Note: CSE 2021 e-admit cards are expected to be issued in the last week of September. Candidates must note that the admit cards will not be sent by post due to the COVID-10 situation in the country.
UPSC Exam 2021 – Selection Criteria
The Civil Services Examination in India is held for the recruitment for various posts in Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service(IPS).
The selection of the candidates through Civil Services Examination in India happens on the basis of an admission process which includes:
- The Civil Services preliminary exam (consisting of two objective-type papers (also known as Civil Services Aptitude Test)
- The main exam which consists of nine papers
- An interview or personality test.
The number of vacancies to be filled through the UPSC CS 2021 examination is expected to be 712 (approx.) which include 22 vacancies for applicants belonging to the Person with Benchmark Disability category.
The UPSC has also recently postponed other exams this year including UPSC EPFO Exam, UPSC CSE 2020 Interview and others. The commission has also postponed the registration for Combined Medical Services Exam which was to begin from 5 May.
