NMAT by GMAC – Dates, Eligibility, Fee, Syllabus, Admission Process

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) conducts NMIMS Management Aptitude Test every year to shortlist candidates seeking admission in MBA/PGDM programmes at the branches of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and its 36 other participating colleges. NMAT by GMAC 2020 shall be conducted from the first week of October to the second week of December 2020 in a computer-based mode. This exam is held in a 75-day window wherein candidates are allowed to take NMAT by GMAC thrice. (If a candidate fails to show up/appear for the exam after scheduling it, it will still be counted as an attempt.) 

GMAC will roll-out the application forms of NMAT by GMAC on the official website from the first week of July. Only those candidates who possess a graduation degree (in any discipline) from a recognized institute/university will be eligible for NMAT by GMAC entrance test. After completing registration, candidates will be able to choose the exam date, time and centre as per their preference. NMAT by GMAC – Eligibility 

The eligibility criteria of each NMAT by GMAC participating institution differs as per their requirements of educational qualification, minimum marks and work experience. It is important to check as well as fulfill the eligibility criteria of preferred colleges before applicants proceed to fill the NMAT by GMAC 2020 application form. Age Limit

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and the participating institutes have not set any upper age limit to apply for the entrance test as well as admission. 

Educational Qualification 

Only those candidates who have a graduation degree or are in their final year of graduation (in any stream) will be eligible to apply for NMAT by GMAC. 

Minimum Marks 

Candidates must have graduated with at least 50% marks. Some of the participating institutes have prescribed 55% in graduation as a minimum marks requirement for admission. Please note that those who are still in their final year will be provided a ‘provisional allotment’ and will only be confirmed once they complete their graduation with the minimum eligible marks. 

Work Experience 

Some of the NMAT by GMAC participating institutes mandate work experience for MBA admissions. Hence, candidates are advised to go through the eligibility criteria of the colleges they wish to get admission in. 

NMAT by GMAC – Registration & Application Procedure 

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) will release the NMAT 2020 application form tentatively in the first week of July through online mode. Eligible candidates will be able to register till the first week of October by visiting the official website i.e. nmat.org.in. Also, the authorities will provide the facility of late registration for those candidates who wouldn’t be able to fill the NMAT by GMAC 2020 application till the last official date. 1. Registration –  

  • Fill in details like name, mobile number, email ID, exam country, and captcha code and then click on the submit button.
  • After successful registration, the password will be sent to the candidate’s registered number.
  • Now, login again using the email ID/mobile number and password.

2. Entering personal information – Enter your date of birth, category, gender, parent’s information and upload your passport size photograph.

3. Filling up contact details – Enter your address, permanent address, mobile number and email ID. 

4. Filling up educational and work experience details – Fill up details related to your graduation degree like marks secured, name of the college.  Also enter your work experience details, if any. 

5. College Preferences – Enter your choice of any five colleges where your NMAT scores will be sent. In case you want to give more than five preferences, you will have to pay an extra of Rs. 236 for each additional preference. 

6. Declaration – Read the declaration form (terms and conditions) and click on the box ‘I Agree’.

7. Payment of application fees – The payment for applying to NMAT by GMAC can be done by using Debit Card (Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Card, or Internet Banking.

NMAT by GMAC – Scheduling 

Candidates who submit the NMAT application form and also pay the application fee will be able to schedule the NMAT by GMAC 2020 exam date as per their preference. They have the option to select the date and time of the entrance test based on seat availability at each of the NMAT by GMAC exam centres. In order to schedule NMAT by GMAC exam, follow the following steps: 

  1. Go to the official website. 
  2. Login by entering your email ID and password. The dashboard will appear on the screen.
  3. Now, through the scheduling exam tab, choose the date and time of exam as per your convenience. 

Within 24 hours of NMAT scheduling, candidates will receive a confirmation mail mentioning their test venue name and address along with date and time of the test. In case they do not receive the mail within 24 hours, then they are advised to contact the Pearson VUE helpdesk (0120 4397855, nmatbygmacsupport@pearson.com).  

Candidates must keep the following points in mind while scheduling NMAT by GMAC:

  1. Scheduling time of the exam and date will be based on a first-come-first-serve basis
  2. Availability of dates and sessions for the entrance test will be based on the number of applicants in a particular city.

NMAT by GMAC – Retake Registration

NMAT by GMAC can be given thrice in a year. Candidates willing to give the second or third attempt of NMAT by GMAC 2020 have to register for NMAT by GMAC retake exam. Candidates have to wait for a minimum of 15 calendar days after their first attempt to give the second attempt. 

To register for NMAT by GMAT retake exam, candidates  just need to click on the ‘Retake section’ and pay the registration fees. There is no need  to fill up the other details again.  Please note that candidates will be able to schedule the retake exam date once the option for retake registration is made available..    

After completing the necessary formalities to retake the NMAT by GMAC exam, candidates must take a printout of the application form as well as fee receipt for future references.

NMAT by GMAC – Admit Card 

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) will issue the admit card after the candidates have paid the registration fees and scheduled the entrance test. Candidates can download the NMAT by GMAC 2020 admit card via the official website. NMAT 2020 hall ticket will mention the details about the exam venue, date and time of the exam, test centre address along with other vital information like the name of the candidate, application number and photograph.

Along with the admit card of NMAT by GMAC, candidates are also required to carry any one of their photo identity cards – Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID Card, Driving License and PAN Card. Candidates will be barred from entering the exam centre if they are not carrying any of the following:

  1. GMAC by NMAT 2020 admit card
  2. Printout of confirmation mail (received after application form submission)
  3. One identity proof

NMAT by GMAC – Exam Centres

NMAT by GMAC – Exam Pattern 

GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) determines the exam pattern of the NMAT entrance exam. As per the NMAT by GMAC 2020 exam pattern , there will be a total of 120 objective-type questions segregated in three sections – Language Skills, Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. Candidates need to answer the questions of each section within the allotted sectional time. Once they complete a section, the next section will appear on the screen. In case the time runs out for a particular section, candidates will automatically be redirected to the next one and returning to the previous section won’t be allowed.

Also, candidates cannot add the remaining time of the previous section to the next sections. 

Marking Scheme 

As per the marking scheme of NMAT by GMAC 2020, there will be no negative marking for incorrect responses. 1 mark shall be credited to the score of test-takers for each correct response.

NMAT by GMAC Result 

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) will announce the result of NMAT 2020 in January 2021. The NMAT by GMAC result will be released through online mode. To check the entrance test result, candidates will have to use their login credentials i.e. registered email ID and password. Also, they will be notified regarding the NMAT by GMAC result by email. The authorities calculate the percentile after the candidates have appeared for all the attempts. The NMAT by GMAC 2020 result is likely to have the following details:

  2. Cutoff for different campuses
  3. Venue for the interview. 

After the declaration of  NMAT by GMAC result, the candidate’s scorecard will be sent to the five colleges that they preferred while filling the application form.

NMAT by GMAC Cutoff 

NMAT cut off score refers to the minimum marks required by the candidates to qualify for the selection procedure at their preferred campus. NMAT cutoff will be released by the participating colleges on the basis of factors like number of candidates appeared, availability of seats and difficulty level of the entrance exam. NMAT by GMAC – Selection Procedure 

The overall NMAT selection procedure includes two steps – qualifying the NMAT by GMAC entrance test and then appearing for the further admission rounds at participating institutes of NMAT by GMAC. After NMAT by GMAC 2020 entrance exam, the shortlisted candidates undergo the Group Discussion (GD)/Writing Ability Test (WAT)/Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds at their preferred  participating colleges. Candidates qualifying in these rounds will further be eligible for admission in the college of their choice. 

While going for admission, candidates must all carry all the prescribed documents for verification: 

  1. Class 10th and 12th passing certificate and mark sheet
  2. Semester-wise graduation degree mark sheet
  3. NMAT by GMAC result 
  4. NMAT by GMAC admit card 
  5. Caste certificate (if applicable)
  6. Postgraduate mark sheet (if applicable)
  7. Work experience certificate

Note – The selection procedure of NMAT varies from one participating college to another. They may or may not include any of the Group Discussion (GD)/Writing Ability Test (WAT)/Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds in their selection process.

NMAT by GMAC – FAQs 

✔️ How many colleges accept the NMAT by GMAC score to grant admissions?

37 B-schools/universities across India accept NMAT by GMAT scores to grant admissions in PG-level management programs. The affiliated colleges of NMAT include premier institutions like Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Indian School of Business Hyderabad, SPJIMR, etc.

✔️ If I complete the language skills section of NMAT before the allotted time, will the extra time get added to the next section?

No. The extra time of one section cannot be added to the other. If a candidate completes answering and reviewing a section before the allotted sectional time expires, they must either revise the section or move to the next section. However, the extra time won’t cannot be added to the next section.

✔️ What all ID proofs are not acceptable on the day of NMAT by GMAC 2020 entrance test?

The ID proofs that are not acceptable include learner’s driver license, photocopies (attested or otherwise) and notarized copies. Also, candidates will have to carry the confirmation mail printout (received after application form submission) along with the hard copy of NMAT by GMAC 2020 admit card.

✔️ How many times can a candidate take NMAT by GMAC 2020?

A candidate can take the NMAT by GMAC up to a maximum of three times (first attempt plus two retake attempts), including no shows. For retake, candidates will have to re-register on the official website. A candidate can retake the exam only after a minimum of 15 days of previous attempt.

✔️ Is there any sectional time limit in NMAT?

Yes. As per the exam pattern of NMAT by GMAC 2020, each section has been allotted the following timelines:

Language Skills – 22 minutes
Quantitative Skills – 60 minutes
