Shruti Sharma completed her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidhyalaya, New Delhi. She then graduated in History (Hons.) from St. Stephens College, University of Delhi, after which she secured a postgraduate seat in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). However, she later dropped out of JNU to pursue M.A. in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics.ย 

Location and Background โ€“

She was born in Basta (Bijnor), Uttar Pradesh and got educated in New Delhi.

Shruti Sharmaโ€™s UPSC Preparation Strategy โ€“

Shruti Sharma has been preparing for UPSC Civil Services since the last 4 years. She had also been a student of Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) since the last 2 years.ย 

Talking about her UPSC CSE preparation strategy to various journalists, Shruti said that instead of relying too much on notes from coaching centres, she preferred to make her own notes with the help of newspapers. She also relied heavily on NCERT books. She said that she used social media in a balanced way.

How many times did Shruti Sharma appear for UPSC exam?

Shruti Sharma, the UPSC topper 2021, had appeared for the UPSC Mains exam last year too but could not reach the interview stage. โ€œIn my first attempt, I could not clear the (UPSC CSE) exam due to a language issue. I had to write the Mains exam in Hindi, and so, I got left behind by 1 mark. Hence, this year, I had to take the exam again.โ€

Educational Qualifications โ€“

Ankita Agarwal graduated in Economic (Hons.) from St. Stephens College, Delhi University. She completed her graduation in 2017, after which she worked for Dalberg, a global development consultancy firm for one year. In 2018, she quit her job to prepare for the UPSC exam.

Location and Background โ€“

Ankitaโ€™s father is a businessman. He migrated to Kolkata from Bihar after Ankita was born.

Ankita lived in New Delhi during her college and UPSC preparation days.

Other Facts

Ankitaโ€™s first choice of option is IAS and second is IPS. Her first choice of cadre is West Bengal.

Educational Qualification โ€“

Gamini Singla has done her Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, with Sociology as her optional subject. She began preparing for the UPSC exam from 2020 onwards.

Location and Background โ€“

Gamini Singla is 23 years old. She is basically from Bathinda, Punjab. Her parents are medical officers working with the Himachal Pradesh government while her brother is a graduate from IIT Kharagpur.

Gamini Singlaโ€™s UPSC Preparation Strategy โ€“

Gamini self-studied for up to 10 hours in day. She took coaching for UPSC in Patiala. However, she majorly relied on self-study.

How many times did Gamini Singla appear for the UPSC exam?

This was Gaminiโ€™s second attempt at UPSC.

Gamini has opted for appointment as an IAS officer.
