New Delhi, 30 May 2021 – The UPSC civil services result 2021 has been announced today at upsc.gov.in. Women candidates have dominated the top three ranks completely with Shruti Sharma emerging as the topper. Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla have followed suit with second and third ranks, respectively.
The final result, which has been announced after prelims, main and interview rounds, contains 685 candidates in total. Out of them, 244 are from the general category, 203 are from Other Backward Classes (OBCs), 105 are from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, 73 are from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category, and 60 are from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, tweeted to congratulate the candidates. He stated, “Congratulations to all those who have cleared the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021. My best wishes to these youngsters who are embarking on their administrative careers at an important time of India’s development journey, when we are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. I fully understand the disappointment of those who couldn’t clear the Civil Services exam but I also know that these are outstanding youngsters who will make a mark in any field they pursue and make India proud. My best wishes to them.”

- For the first time, all top 3 ranks have been attained by women candidates.
- A total of 685 candidates have been selected and recommended for appointment, based on their performance in prelims, mains, and interview rounds.
- Out of the selected candidates, 244 are from the general category, 203 are from Other Backward Classes (OBCs), 105 are from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, 73 are from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category, and 60 are from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
- A total of 749 Vacancies have also been opened. Out of these vacancies, 180 candidates would be placed in IAS cadre, 37 would be placed in IFS cadre, 200 in the IPS cadre, 242 in Central Services Group A, and 90 in Central Services Group B.
- Apart from that, a list of 80 candidates has been provisionally recommended for further appointment.
