SNAP selection process 2020 encompasses a set of rounds conducted by the institutes affiliated to Symbiosis International University (SIU) for shortlisting qualified candidates for admission to PG-level management programmes. SIU does not conduct any centralised counselling process to grant admission. However, all the affiliated institutes of SIU follow a common SNAP selection process to assess the candidates who score a qualifying percentile in the SNAP test. In order to get admission, candidates are required to appear for multiple rounds conducted under SNAP selection process. These rounds include:
- Group Exercise (GE)
- Personal Interaction (PI)
- Written Ability Test (WAT)
Candidates are shortlisted for the SNAP selection process (GE-PIWAT) based on their percentile score in SNAP. After the completion of SNAP selection process, all Symbiosis institutes prepare a separate merit list by accessing the candidates overall performance in SNAP test and GE-PIWAT. The final merit list comprises the names of the candidates confirmed for final admissions at any of the 16 institutes affiliated to SIU. SNAP Selection Process – Important Dates
After the SNAP test is conducted, candidates obtaining the minimum cut off scores of their preferred Symbiosis institutes will be called for further selection rounds. Every institute releases its own schedule for the SNAP selection process. The table below mentions the tentative schedule for SNAP selection process 2020.

SNAP Selection Process – Stepwise Procedure
Candidates must have a know-how of the SNAP selection procedure even before filling the registration form. The SNAP selection process is as follows:
- Right after SNAP registration, candidates can lock their institute/course preferences through a separate institute and course registration process
- Registration for institutes/courses requires candidates to login to snaptest.org using their SNAP ID and password
- Candidates have to pay Rs. 1000 (apart from SNAP application fee) to register for each MBA course and Symbiosis institute
- Symbiosis International University sends the SNAP percentile score of candidates to the institute(s) they have registered for
- After the conduct of SNAP test, affiliated Institutes release a cut off score for shortlisting test-takers
- Candidates, who qualify the SNAP cut off released by their chosen institute, appear for the SNAP selection process
- The list of candidates, who qualify for SNAP selection rounds, is released on official websites of respective institutes
- At the venue where the SNAP selection rounds are being held, candidates have to participate in the following rounds in the chronology specified:
- Group Exercise (GE)
- Personal Interaction (PI)
- Written Ability Test (WAT)
- Based on the performance of candidates in SNAP test, GD, PI and WAT, all the institutes prepare a final merit list for selected candidates
- Once the final selection list is released, candidates have to appear for the document verification and the payment of admission fee

SNAP Selection Process – Group Exercise (GE)
After qualifying the cut off of their preferred Symbiosis institute/s, candidates will be called for the Group Exercise round. In this round, all the participants are divided in two groups. Then, both the groups are given a topic to express their views on the assigned topic.
Group Exercise (GE) is one of the selection rounds conducted by the Symbiosis institutes to assess the following skills and qualities of the candidates –

SNAP Selection Process – Personal Interaction (PI)
After the Group Exercise, candidates undergo a Personal Interaction, also known as, Personal Interview round. The PI selection round consists of a panel (usually officials from the institute) that interacts with the candidates and accesses them based on various parameters. The PI round helps in evaluating certain skills and traits of the candidates as mentioned below –

In PI, multiple questions are asked regarding the career goals and past achievements of the candidates. The most common question asked is ‘Why MBA?’
SNAP Selection Process – Written Ability Test (WAT)
After conducting GE and PI, the institutes conduct a Written Ability Test (WAT). The Written Ability Test might include different types of questions. Candidates are shown a picture or video and can be told to summarise the same using a pen and paper, or candidates might get a random topic to write their views on.

SNAP Selection Process – Preparation of Final Merit List
After all the rounds of the SNAP selection process are conducted, the participating institutes prepare a merit list to display the names of the candidate’s who are confirmed for admission. The final merit list is prepared after giving a certain weightage to each SNAP admission round.

Symbiosis International University defines a certain reservation policy for providing admission to certain categories of students. RESERVATION POLICY FOR SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT, NAGPUR
25% of the total intake of students at SIBM Nagpur is reserved for candidates who are Nagpur residents. However, the remaining 75% of the total seat intake in SIBM, Nagpur will follow the general reservation policy as mentioned in the table above.
RESERVATION FOR CHILDREN/WARDS OF DEFENCE PERSONNEL IN DIFFERENT INSTITUTES

✔️ How will I be shortlisted for the SNAP selection process 2020?
The institutes affiliated to Symbiosis International University (SIU) prepare a cut off in order to shortlist the candidates for GE-PIWAT after the SNAP result declaration. Candidates whose SNAP percentile score is equal to or greater than the cut off of their registered institute(s) will be considered for the GE-PIWAT rounds.
