Vellore Institute of Technology has cancelled the VITEEE 2020. The exam was previously scheduled to be held from 29th July to 2nd August 2020. The candidates will now be granted admissions based on the marks obtained in the 10+2 or equivalent exam. The governing authority of the exam has urged the candidates to make the appropriate changes in the application forms at the earliest.

After the release of the VITEEE result, VIT University prepares a rank list on the basis of candidates’ performance in the entrance exam. Qualified candidates will have to appear for the counselling process in order of their position in the rank list. Important Update- On 6th August 2020, Vellore Institute of Technology released the result of VITEEE 2020 on their official website. Since, the entrance exam was cancelled, the governing body of the exam has released a rank list for the qualified candidates according to their marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). Eligible candidates must check their results at the official website- vit.ac.in.

 How is the VITEEE Result Calculated?

Vellore Institute of Technology releases the VITEEE result for admission in its multiple campuses. Candidates who appear for the exam get their result evaluated by the university itself. The VITEEE score is calculated using a specific marking scheme defined by the university. However, candidates can estimate their probable score as per the marking scheme prior to result declaration, using the VITEEE answer key. The marking scheme used to calculate the scores in VITEEE is mentioned below.

1. For every correct answer marked by the test taker, 1 mark is awarded
2. Wrong answers are not marked negatively
3. There’s no marking for unattempted questions

Note- VITEEE 2020 was cancelled by Vellore Institute Technology in wake of Covid 19 pandemic. Thus, this year results will be compiled on the basis of marks obtained in class 10+2 or equivalent (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics)

VITEEE Result – What is the equating methodology?

VITEEE is conducted conducted on multiple days in different sessions. In every session, there may be different sets of VITEEE question papers. In order to avoid any kind of inequality in determining the merit and rank, Vellore Institute of Technology uses the equating methodology (normalization process) for performance evaluation of the candidates. Here is an overview of the equating methodology for evaluation of VITEEE results – 

Vellore Institute of Technology determines the percentile scores of the candidates by equating their raw scores in the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination. Equipercentile equating is done in such a way that the scores of two different candidates with the same percentile rank are considered equivalent. To explain simply, if a candidate has a percentile rank of 75, then this would denote that the candidate is better than the 75% of the test takers. At the same time, 25% of the test takers are better than the candidate with a 75 percentile. 

It is advisable not to predict the rank based on the estimated raw scores or the past year’s data. With a change in the number of candidates, the percentile score of the candidates will also change.

VITEEE Rank List 2020

Vellore Institute of Technology prepares the VITEEE rank list (VITEEE merit list). The VITEEE rank list is generated based on the percentile of candidates in the examination. Vellore Institute of Technology notifies the allotted ranks to the candidates over their registered mobile numbers via an SMS. Candidates can also access the VITEEE login portal to check the VITEEE rank allotted to them. 

Vellore Institute of Technology does not provide any facility of rechecking/re-ranking or displaying of answer scripts. 

VITEEE Counselling

The Vellore Institute of Technology calls the test-takers for the counselling on the basis of their VITEEE ranks. Through the VITEEE counselling process, the candidates are allotted seats in the four VIT campuses (Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, Amravati). Candidates must get their documents verified on the counselling day. No candidate is issued the admission letter without participating in the document verification process. On the successful generation of the admission letter, candidates must pay the admission fee for the respective course discipline. The eligible ranks for the counselling process at different campuses are as follows:

1. Candidates having rank between 1 to 99,999 will mark the eligibility criteria to participate in the counselling session at all the campuses of Vellore Institute of Technology

2. Candidates having a rank up between 1,00,000 to 1,50,000 will be eligible for the counselling process at VIT Bhopal only.
