CLAT Registration – Revised Dates, Procedure for Registration, Documents Upload, Payment of Fees

The official governing body that conducts the CLAT exam ‘Consortium of NLUs’ has confirmed that the registration and exam date would be extended for the CLAT 2020 exam. This decision is made solely because of the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. Thus, the new deadline for the registration and application process has now been extended to 10th July 2020. It was previously set for 1st July 2020. Also, the CLAT 2020 which was scheduled to be held on 22nd August 2020, is now rescheduled to be conducted on 7th September 2020.

Important Update – ‘Consortium of NLUs’ recently released a notification on their official website regarding the rescheduling of CLAT 2020. The governing body of the exam has notified that the CLAT 2020 will be conducted on 7th September 2020. The decision is taken by ‘Consortium of NLUs’ with concern to the safety of the students against the Covid 19 Pandemic. CLAT 2020 was previously scheduled to be conducted on 22nd August 2020.

CLAT Registration  – How to register for the exam?

Candidates must register for the CLAT 2020 exam on the official website of Consortium of NLU’s. The mode of registration is online and candidates cannot opt for any other method of registration. Candidates are required to fill authentic personal and academic details, and any wrong information will lead to instant rejection of the application. Candidates must upload a photograph and a signature (JPEG format). After filling all the details in the application form, the candidate can proceed to paying the fee for the exam. Candidates belonging to the General/ Other backward Class (OBC)/Specially-abled category/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Non-Resident Indian(NRI)/Person of Indian Origin(PIO) must pay INR 4000 for the CLAT 2020 exam registration. Candidates belonging to the categories like Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Below Poverty Line (BPL) must pay INR 3500 exam registration fee.

CLAT Registration – Essential Documents

A candidate must have created a working email id and possess a working mobile number to proceed with the application process of the CLAT 2020 exam. Some of the documents required to submit are:

  • Class 10th marksheet
  • Class 12th marksheet
  • Photocopy of identity proof such as aadhar card, driving license or PAN card.
  • Scanned photograph (passport size in JPEG format, size – 500 KB or less)
  • Scanned signature (JPEG format, size – 100 KB or less)
  • Scanned copies of caste certificate (if applied) and domicile.

CLAT Registration – Procedure of Registration

Candidates may apply for the registration on the official website of the ‘Consortium of NLU’s’. Visit the link- https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2020/, and follow the procedure of registration. Following is the step-by-step process of CLAT 2020 exam registration – 

  1. Click on the ‘Register’ tab and fill in other details like mobile number, email id, password.
  2. After filling all the details, candidates must click on the register button.
  3. After the submission of registration, a pop option would appear on the screen concerning the approval from the candidate for the final registration.
  4. After the registration, candidates must proceed to the activation of the account and fill in details like email id, mobile number and password. Students will also get an OTP on their mobile phones. Once the details are submitted, for a final confirmation from the candidate, a dialogue box pops up referring, “You are going to activate the account, please confirm”. Candidates must click on the tab ‘OK’.
  5. After successfully activating the account, candidates must fill in the mobile number and password. They will automatically be redirected to the page concerning the application process.
  6. Finally, candidates may click on the button suggesting ‘Apply for CLAT 2020’.

CLAT Registration – Uploading of Documents for CLAT 2020

Candidate must upload THE following documents:

  1. Passport-size photograph in JPEG format which must not exceed 500kb of size.
  2. Signature in JPEG format. Must not exceed 100kb in size.
  3. Scanned copies of domicile certificate/reserved caste certificate in PDF format.

CLAT Registration – Payment of CLAT 2020 exam fee

After filling all the necessary details on the application form, candidates must pay the exam fee as per the guidelines.

Fees for General /OBC/ PWD/ NRI/ PIO/ OCI Candidates – INR 4000 

Fees for SC/ST Candidates- INR 3500 

How to retrieve CLAT login Password?

CLAT login password is essential throughout the process of the exam. Be it the registration or at the time of admissions, candidates must remember CLAT login password. But even if you have forgotten the password, you may retrieve the new password by following these easy steps –

  • Visit the official website of the ‘Consortium of NLU’.
  • Click on the ‘Forgot Password’ tab mentioned at the bottom of the login window.
  • You will be directed to a new page which would require you to fill in the registered mobile number.
  • Click on the tab mentioning ‘Request OTP’.
  • Enter mobile number and the OTP.
  • Click on the tab mentioning ‘Reset Password’.
  • Your new password would be generated.

Q. What is the application fee for the CLAT 2020 exam?

The application fee for the CLAT 2020 exam varies from different categories. For General /OBC/ PWD/ NRI/ PIO/ OCI candidates, the total application fee is INR 4000, whereas for the SC/ST/BPL categories the total application fee is INR 3500.

Q. Can I register for the CLAT 2020 exam through offline mode?

No, the registration process for the CLAT 2020 exam is available only in online mode. You may register for the CLAT 2020 exam on the official website of ‘Consortium of NLU’s’.

Q. What is the deadline for the application of the CLAT 2020 exam?

Previously, the deadline for the CLAT 2020 application was 1st July. But, the official governing body of CLAT ‘Consortium of NLU’s’ has now extended the application deadline to 10th July 2020.

Q. How do I know if I have successfully registered for the CLAT 2020 exam?

After successfully completing the registration process, the candidate would receive a confirmation on the registered email id and the mobile phone as well. Thus, the candidate would be assured that the application is successful.
