Important Updates
- As per the latest announcement by NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education), the UPTET certificate will remain valid for a lifetime. Previously, after the declaration of the result, the validity period for UPTET was for 5 years. Now, candidates can appear for the exam once and use their respective UPTET certificate for a lifetime.
- Candidates with Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) might not be eligible for UPTET 2021
- UPTET eligibility certificates 2019 are likely to be issued to all qualified candidates from 11th January 2021.
- On behalf of the Secretary Examination Regulatory Authority, the number of district-wise applicants will be sent to the District School Inspector for fixation of exam centres by 26th October 2021.
UPTET Eligibility Criteria 2021 – Exam Notification
The UPTET 2021 notification was earlier scheduled to be released in May 2021 and the exam was to be conducted on 25th July 2021. However, the timetable was disrupted and the exam was postponed due to the surge in COVID-19 cases throughout India.
At present, UPBEB (Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board) had announced the release of the official UPTET notification 2021 on 4th October 2021 on its official website.
The UPTET notification is released in the form of a PDF and contains vital exam-related information such as dates, the application process, exam pattern, syllabus, result declaration, eligibility criteria, etc.

*Candidates can pay the application fee in online or offline mode. For 1 paper, the UPTET application fee for the General category is Rs 600 and SC/ST category is Rs 400.

UPTET Eligibility Criteria 2021 – Nationality
As per UPTET eligibility criteria, a candidate should either be an Indian citizen or a citizen of the countries highlighted below.
Apart from being a citizen of India, the applying candidate could be either a:
- A subject of Bhutan
- OR a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 intending to settle in India permanently
- OR a subject of Nepal
UPTET Eligibility Criteria 2021 – Age Limit
Before applying for any one of the UPTET posts [Primary Teacher (Classes 1 to 5) or Upper Primary Teacher (Classes 6 to 8)], candidates must ensure that they fulfill the important age limit UPTET eligibility criteria. The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board or UPBEB has set an upper and lower age limit for candidates who wish to appear for the UPTET exam 2021.

The applicants need to satisfy any one of the criteria mentioned below –

UPTET Eligibility Certificate 2021
- Candidates possessing a Diploma from NCTE/RCI will be given preference
- Candidates who score 60% (90/150 marks) of the total marks would be considered qualified for UPTET recruitment.
- Reserved category candidates are required to score only 55% marks (83/150 marks) to qualify.
- Candidates who qualify for the exam would be getting the UPTET eligibility certificate, which will be valid for 5 years
- Eligibility Certificate can be taken from the district education board by providing a copy of the UPTET Admit Card and Photo Identity Card

Who is NOT Eligible for UPTET 2021?
The candidates who are not eligible for the UPTET examination are the ones who:
- Did not secure 50% marks in 12th class or equivalent
- Are not Indian citizens nor do not belong to the countries, as specified above in the article
- Have not completed their graduation
