UGC Fake University List 2023 Released, Check Complete List & Other Details

On August 25, 2022, the University Grants Commission (UGC) released a list of fake institutions on its official website: ugc.ac.in. According to the notice, unrecognized colleges, which are operating against the UGC Act, have been deemed fraudulent and are not authorized to provide any degrees. Only those universities that have been established by the Central Act or Provincial act have the right to grant degrees.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has disapproved 21 institutions across the nation as these universities were illegally providing course completion certificates and degrees. Students are advised to remain cautious before enrolling into such colleges for any course. 

The majority of unauthorized universities are located in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. States like Odisha, West Bengal, and Kerala each have two fake universities, while Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh, each have one.
