Govt Launches Skill Development Schemes for Class 10 Students, Read On

New Delhi, 15 November 2022: The Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, has launched skill development schemes for Class 10 students to provide them with free coaching in the disciplines of Accounting, Fashion Designing, Mass Communication, among others.

The Government of Jharkhand has approved four schemes, namely, Mukhya Mantri Shiksha Prothsahan Yojana (MMSPY), Eklavya Prasikshan Yojana (EPY), Guruji Student Credit Card Yojana (GSCCY), and Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana (MMSY).

Note – 

  • The students will also be provided with a scholarship of INR 2,500.
  • Coaching will be provided to students to crack the competitive exams including the railways, banking, medical, and other staff selection exams.

Skill Development Schemes – Aim

The Government of Jharkhand has focused on providing free schemes for underprivileged students with the aim of improving youth employability in the state. The students can access better education, and high-paying jobs to boost the economic sector.

What are the Skill Development Schemes Launched by the Govt. of Jharkhand?

The Government of Jharkhand has launched the following schemes for the students of landless labourers and impoverished families.

1. Mukhya Mantri Shiksha Prothsahan Yojana (MMSPY)

The scheme aims to provide assistance to the students of underprivileged labourers. The students can pursue graduation, post-graduation, and polytechnic diploma through financial aid from the government.

Under this scheme, over 8,000 students will be provided with free coaching and a scholarship of INR 2,500 per month.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The students must be natives of Jharkhand.
  • Candidates must apply under the category of underprivileged students.
  • The students must be pursuing Class 10 from a private or government school in the state.

Benefits

  • The tuition fees, hostel fees, and other expenses of the students will be borne by the government.
  • The students will receive merit certificates from the government to take admission to the top universities of the state.
  • The benefit of the scheme will be provided to the students who are not enrolled in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam.

2. Eklavya Prasikshan Yojana (EPY)

The Eklavya Prasikshan Yojana (EPY) is an initiative launched by Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr. Hemant Soren, with the aim of providing better employment and a more secure future to the youth of the state. The students will be provided computer training, skill development, and personality development classes for three months that will be free of cost.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The students must be natives of Jharkhand.
  • The students must have passed Class 10 from a recognized board of education.
  • The applicant must not be less than 18 years of age.

Benefits

  • The tuition fees, hostel fees, and other expenses of the students will be borne by the government.
  • An allowance of INR 1,500 will be provided to the girls and handicapped students.
  • The hostel expenses up to INR 2,500 will be submitted directly to the hostels.
  • After the successful completion of the training, students will be provided with placement opportunities in organised sectors.

3. Guruji Student Credit Card Yojana (GSCCY)

The scheme was initiated by Chief Minister Hemant Soren to provide students with a credit card with a maximum limit of INR 15 lakh. Through this financial assistance, they can bear the cost of books, stationeries, and other educational expenses.

The students can spend 30% of INR 15 lakh on their non-educational expenses and will get a time span of 15 years to pay back the loan amount.

  • The applicant must not be less than 18 years of age.

4. Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana (MMSY)

The Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana (MMSY) is an initiative by the commissioner of the labour department. Under this scheme, students will be given training in carpeting, painting, weaving, and sewing with the financial aid of INR 1,000 per month.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The students must be natives of Jharkhand.
  • The students must have passed Class 10 from a recognized board of education.
  • The applicant must not be less than 18 years of age.

Benefits

  • The tuition fees, hostel fees, and other expenses of the students will be borne by the government.
  • After the successful completion of the training, students will be provided with placement opportunities in organised sectors.
  • If employment is not given to the students, an unemployment allowance of INR 1,000 will be given to the students for 10 months.
