New Delhi, 19 May 2022 – The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is no longer mandatory to get admission in Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) course in the state of Gujarat. Students of the state can now take direct admissions into medical colleges in the course. They must, however, fulfill all other eligibility criteria to get admission into BSc Nursing in Gujarat.
The national-level medical entrance examination has been earlier made compulsory for BSc Nursing for national quota seats by the National Medical Commission (NMC). However, the commission had not made it mandatory for state quota seats. Thus, the Gujarat government decided to not adopt NEET 2022 as the admission criteria for state quota seats, and hence, students can get admission into the course without having to appear for the exam.

NEET 2022 Not Mandatory – Who is Eligible for BSC Nursing in Gujarat?
- Candidates should have passed Class 12 or its equivalent with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from any recognized board.
- Candidates need to have a minimum of 45% marks to apply. Applicants belonging to the reserved category should have secured a minimum of 40% marks.
- Candidates need to be a minimum of 17 years of age, on or before 31st December.
- Candidates who have passed a qualifying exam by the Admission Committee for Professional Course (ACPC) can apply.
- Candidates whose parents are of Gujarat origin can apply.
- Candidates whose parents are from Gujarat and serve in the central government or any other state government can also apply.
NEET 2022 Not Mandatory – BSC Nursing Application & Admission Processes
- Applicants who want to get admission in B.Sc. Nursing without appearing for NEET 2022 need to apply online at medadmgujarat.org.
- There, they need to fill up the application form given on the website.
- After completing the online application, the admission process will also begin online.
- Official authorities will start preparing a merit list of the applicants once they have received all applications.
- The merit list will contain the names of all selected applicants.
- Applicants who are selected are instructed to submit necessary documents for the verification process.
- Then, they are required to pay the admission fee.
- Official authorities will update the merit list on the official website.
- Once the merit list is released, nominated applicants will be given a choice for a combination of subject groups in colleges or institutions. This will be done online.
- After this, applicants will get admission into the university by official authorities.
