New Delhi, 6 February 2023 – APPSC Exam – The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet has approved raising the maximum age for general candidates and scheduled tribes for the state civil service examination.
The nod was given during a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, an official statement said.

APPSC Exam – Arunachal Cabinet Decision – Important Details
- After the cabinet approved amendments to Rule 3 of the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Services and Civil Posts (Upper Age Limit for Direct Recruitment) Rules, the upper age limit for the examination will now be 40 years for the Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribes (APST) candidates and 35 years for general candidates.
- All candidates who applied for direct recruitment exams but had their exams cancelled or postponed by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in 2022 due to administrative grounds will also be eligible for a one-time relaxation of the proposed upper age limit.
- The deadline for submitting applications in response to APPSC advertisements for the respective exams will mark the start of the benefit for applicants.
- This development comes after Mr. Khandu’s announcement on 22 November 2022 that the upper age limit for the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission exam would be raised by three years.
- The current age cap for direct recruitment for civil services and civil posts in the state government is 32 years, with a 5-year age relaxation for APST applicants.
