New Delhi, 20 October 2021 – The National Eligibility Test (NET) aspirants across the country are anxious due to the latest postponement of the UGC-NET examination 2021. The exam, which was scheduled to take place between 17 and 25 October, has been postponed again to avoid a clash with other major exams. Now, UGC is expected to release the revised dates soon.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) cited through an official notification, “Several requests have been received from candidates regarding the clash with some other major examinations. Hence, NTA has decided to postpone the UGC-NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles to subsequent dates which will be announced shortly”. NTA has also requested candidates to visit its websites – www.nta.ac.in and https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in – for regular updates regarding the exam.
UGC NET is conducted to determine eligibility for the posts of assistant professors at national universities and colleges.
UGC-NET 2021 – Students Use Twitter to Demonstrate Disapproval
Students across the country were preparing for the UGC-NET 2021 exam in zest, especially after NTA relaxed PhD as the minimum qualification for assistant professor recruitment. However, due to the exam being postponed and both December 2020 and June 2021 examinations being held together, candidates find themselves in a clutch.
As a result, several students have taken to Twitter to show their displeasure towards the postponement of the exam. Most of them have requested the NTA to release a stipulated date sheet so they can prepare accordingly.

UGC-NET 2021 Examination – Important Points
- Candidates need to score at least 40% marks to crack the exam. For students belonging to the reserved category, at least 35% of marks are required to pass.
- Among the candidates who qualify, the ones in the top 6% will be declared ‘passed’ and will be eligible for the post of assistant professor or junior research fellowship.
- UGC-NET 2021 will consist of objective-type questions and will be divided into two papers for each subject.
- Paper 1 will have 50 MCQs and Paper 2 will consist of 100 MCQs.
- Three hours will be allotted to complete the exam, where 2 marks will be awarded for every correct answer.
- No negative marking is levied on the UGC-NET 2021 exam.
