The Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS) has laid down a set of eligibility criteria for candidates willing to apply for the BITSAT 2022. All the candidates willing to take the BITSAT 2022 must meet all the predetermined eligibility criteria without which their candidature might get cancelled even after qualifying the examination.

BITSAT Eligibility – Overview

The BITSAT eligibility criteria might vary depending on various factors –

BITSAT Eligibility 2022 – Factors 

There are various factors that are taken into consideration while choosing the students to sit for BITSAT 2022. Basically, eligibility is the first step to filter out candidates. Hence, whether or not a candidate will qualify the BITSAT eligibility 2022 depends on the following variables: 

  1. Qualifying examination
  2. Qualifying subjects
  3. Qualifying marks
  4. Age limit
  5. Year of examination
  6. Country of residence

BITSAT Eligibility for Bachelor of Engineering (BE) 

All the candidates who are aspiring to be a part of the B.E programme at any of the BITS campuses must go through the eligibility criteria provided below:

  • Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed 12th examination from a recognized Central or State board.
  • Subjects of Qualifying Examination: A candidate willing to apply for any of the B.E programmes must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as three of the five major subjects in 12th class. 
  • Qualifying Marks in 12th: An aggregate of 75% marks is required in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Also, the candidate must also secure a minimum of at least 60% in each of the above subjects individually. 
  • Age: There is no predefined minimum or a maximum age limit to take BITSAT 2022. However, a candidate must have qualified 12th examination in 2019 or should be in the process of taking the 12th exam in 2022. 

BITSAT Eligibility for Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.)

All the candidates seeking admission in the B.Pharma programme at a BITS campus must go through the following eligibility criteria:

  • Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed 12th examination from a recognized Central or State board.
  • Subjects of Qualifying Examination: A candidate endeavoring for admission in B.Pharmacy must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as major subjects at 10+2 level. 
  • Qualifying Marks in 12th: An aggregate of 75% marks is required in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Also, the candidate must secure a minimum of 60% in each of the above subjects individually.
  • Age: BITS has not defined any minimum or maximum age to appear in the BITSAT. Still, a candidate who has qualified 12th in 2019 or shall be qualifying 10+2 in 2022 will be eligible for BITSAT 2022.   

BITSAT Eligibility 2022 – Dubai Campus

Located in an international location, BITS Dubai campus has completely a different set of eligibility criteria. Below-given information about eligibility criteria for BITS Dubai will be helpful for interested candidates. 

  • Admission Criteria: The admission process for BITS Dubai campus is based only on merit based on Class 12 percentage of the candidates. BITSAT is not applicable on the Dubai campus.
  • Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination from:
  1. General Secondary Education Certificate Examination of Ministry of Education, UAE or
  2. Senior School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education, India or
  3. Advanced Level from Cambridge International Examination/Edexcel.
  • Passing Percentage of Qualifying Examination: An aggregate of 60% marks is required in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Also, the candidate must secure a minimum of 50% in each of the above subjects individually.

Note – BITSAT Dubai campus primarily considers the candidature of the students from GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries. However, the non-GCC residents can also apply for admission.  

BITSAT Eligibility Criteria for Direct Admission

There is a provision for direct admission in Birla Institute of Technology & Sciences. The candidates who obtain first ranks in their respective board examinations will be given direct admission in BITS. These 1st rank students of all the central and state boards in India for the year 2022 will be offered admission into the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT 2022 score.  

BITSAT Eligibility – International Applicants

A candidate who is not an Indian national must meet the below-listed eligibility criteria in order to take admission in BITS 2022 courses. International students will be exempted from BITSAT.

  1. Minimum aggregate score of 1600 (out of a maximum of 2400) in SAT.
  2. Minimum of 75% aggregate marks (7.5/10) in PCM at 10+2 or equivalent level.
  3. At least 60% marks (6/10) in each of the individual subjects of PCM in 12th.
  4. A minimum aggregate score of 1600 (out of a maximum of 2400) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in SAT Level 2.

BITSAT Eligibility – FAQs

Q. What if a candidate fails to fulfill any one of the eligibility criteria of BITSAT 2022?

If a candidate fails to fulfill even one of the BITSAT 2022 eligibility criteria, he/she will not be able to take admission in any of the BITS campuses.

Q. I have taken Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2. Am I eligible to apply for BITSAT 2022?

Yes, the candidates with PCB in 10+2 are eligible for admission in B.Pharma, available at BITS Pilani and Hyderabad campuses.

Q. Is there any separate application process for NRI aspirants as per the BITS guidelines?

No, as per the BITS guidelines, there’s no separate application process required by NRI candidates in order to take admission. However, they don’t need to appear for BITSAT and the application fee also varies for international/ NRI students.
