New Delhi, 31 May 2021 – The Uttar Pradesh Board of Education (UPSEB) and the state government have decided to cancel the UP board Class 10 examinations due to COVID-19. At the same time, the state government has proposed to hold UP board Class 12 exams in the form of 90-minute tests (for each subject) in the second week of July, if feasible. The UP government has also decided to promote all students from Class 6, 7,8, 9, 10 and 11 to the next class.
Deputy CM Dr. Dinesh Sharma announced – “Owing to the extraordinary circumstances triggered by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the larger interest of students besides the general interest of the public, the UP government has decided to cancel the class 10 board examinations conducted by the UP Secondary Education Council.”
Dr. Dinesh Sharma further added that the cancellation of UP board Class 10 exams has impacted more than 29.9 lakh students who had registered for this academic year.
UP Class 10 Board Exams 2021 – How will the students be promoted to the next class?
The Uttar Pradesh government has asked the UP Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) to prepare a framework to promote Class 10 students to the next class.
Previously, the UP board had asked for the marks of pre-board, monthly tests, and final exams of Class 9 from schools. The state-run schools had submitted the data of the students to the board on May 24, 2021, based on which they will be promoted to the next class.
UP Board Class 12 Exams 2021 – Exams Date to be Released Soon
Deputy Chief Minister of UP, Dr. Sharma said that keeping in mind the future of students and the importance of Class 12 marks for them, the board examinations have been proposed for the second week of July provided the situation is under control.
The duration of the exams is expected to be reduced to one and a half hours instead of three hours. In such a case, the students would have the liberty to answer any three questions out of 10 given ones.
To ensure social distancing among students, the government has decided to increase the number of examination centres.
A schedule for the proposed Class 12 examination will be released shortly by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Board of Education (UPSEB). Over 26.1 lakh students had registered for Class 12 exams this year.
Earlier, the UP Board Class 10, 12 examinations were to begin from April 24 but were later rescheduled to May 8 due to the panchayat elections.
