The mode of counselling for IPU CET 2020 varies from course to course. IPU CET Counselling – Detailed Process for Online IPU CET Counselling 2020
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University will release all the details regarding the online IPU CET counselling over its official website soon after the release of the examination result. Let’s move forward to know the stepwise procedure of the IPU CET online counselling 2020.
STEP 1: PAYMENT OF COUNSELLING FEE
- The official website of GGSIPU admission i.e. ipuadmissions.nic.in will have an online payment gateway to make the payment of IPU CET counselling fee.
- After visiting the official admission portal, click on the link stating ‘Payment of counselling participation fee’.
- Enter your CET details including roll number, date of birth and mobile number.
- IPU CET online counselling fees can be paid both in an online as well as offline mode (via bank challan).
- Once the fee has been successfully paid, print the transaction slip and preserve the same for future references.
Counselling Fee – Rs. 1,000 (non-refundable)
Modes of Payment
- Online payment gateway – Candidates choosing this mode will have to pay the counselling fee amount using credit card/debit card/net banking.
- Bank challan – Candidates choosing this mode of payment will have to generate bank challan and make a payment in cash at any branch of a nationalized Indian bank.
STEP 2: REGISTRATION
- Right after the payment of counselling fee in an online mode, candidates can register themselves at the admissions website of IP University.
- In case of offline payment, candidates must wait for two days to get their payment processed.
- Candidates can pursue registration by providing CET details, personal details, academic details and contact details.
- Candidates will receive a login ID and password during the registration process. These credentials must be kept confidential.
- Candidates must take at least two printouts of the confirmation page after completing the registration process.
STEP 3: CHOICE FILLING
- Candidates will have to mark preferences of the affiliated colleges to GGSIPU during the choice filling process.
- It is advisable to mark all the possible choices of courses and institutions available during the choice filling process.
- Candidates will also be allowed to make changes in the preferences filled in the first round, for allotment in the subsequent rounds of IPU CET counselling 2020.
- It will be beneficial if the candidates take a printout after marking all the preferences. Printout of the filled in choices will help in smooth management when the seat allotment result is released.
STEP 4: ALLOCATION OF SEATS
- Candidates who have completed the above mentioned steps are considered for the seat allocation process based on their performance and the reservation criteria.
- Login window available at ipuadmissions.nic.in will enable the candidates to check the IPU CET seat allotment result.

What is the post allotment procedure for IPU CET Online Counselling 2020?
After the release of the seat allotment result, candidates might or might not be satisfied with the allotted seat. For both the cases, the following process must/can be followed:
Payment of Part Academic Fee (Mandatory step for both cases)
- Candidates who are allotted seats via the IPU CET online counselling will have to pay the part academic fee of Rs. 40,000.
- Similar to the payment of counselling fee, the payment of the part academic fee can be also be done through two modes – online and offline (bank challan)
- Candidates who don’t pay the part academic fee will not be considered for the subsequent rounds of IPU CET counselling 2020.
- The admission fee receipt must be printed immediately after paying the fees online or within two days after paying the fees offline.
Freezing of Allotted Seat
- Candidates may or may not be satisfied with the seats allotted to them. Freeze option comes in handy in case a candidate is satisfied with the allotment.
- Clicking the freeze button will mark the candidate ineligible for subsequent rounds of IPU CET counselling.
- If the candidate wishes for upgradation in the next round of the counselling process, he/she must not click the freeze button available on the login dashboard.
- If a better allotment as per a candidate’s preference is made in the subsequent round, the respective candidate will not be allowed to retain the earlier allotted seat.
What is the process of withdrawal and fee refund after online rounds of IPU CET Counselling 2020?
Candidates will have an option of withdrawal if he/she wishes for the same after the end of first & second rounds of IPU CET online counselling. The login dashboard available at ipuadmissions.nic.in will provide an option for the withdrawal of admission after deposit of the fee is made. Candidates opting for this option will not be considered for further rounds of the IPU CET counselling. However, such candidates who choose to withdraw their admission will be eligible to participate in the spot round of IPU CET counselling.
IPU CET Counselling – Last Round of IPU CET Counselling 2020
The last round of IPU CET counselling or the open house counselling will lead to the conversion of all the remaining vacant seats including the region-wise seats and the category-wise seats, after the allotment of reserved category candidates. Following candidates will be ineligible for the last round of IPU CET counselling:
- Those who did not pay the part academic fee
- Those who have frozen the allotted seat
- Those who have withdrawn their allotment in any of the rounds of the IPU CET counselling
Sliding of the allotted seat after last round of IPU CET Counselling 2020
Candidates who have been allotted seats in any of the online rounds of the IPU CET counselling 2020 shall be eligible for the sliding round. All the candidates must have paid the part academic fee in order to be marked eligible in this round. Candidates will not be provided an opportunity of locking new preferences. Priorly filled preferences by the candidates will be considered for the sliding round. Candidates who do not wish to participate in this round must freeze their seats before the last date for the same.
IPU CET Counselling – Reporting
Candidates will be able to generate provisional admission slips along with the enrollment number after the sliding round is over. Candidates will have to report at the allotted institute along with all necessary documents to get them verified. The documents to be carried at the time of reporting are:
- Birth Certificate or Class 10th Mark Sheet (as proof of date of birth)
- IPU CET Admit Card/JEE Main Admit Card
- Scorecard Of CET 2020/JEE Main Scorecard
- Class 12th Marks Sheet
- Reservation Certificate (If Applicable)
- Provisional Allotment Letter
- Admission Slip
- Academic Fee Receipt

The part academic fee of Rs. 40,000 will be adjusted and the candidates will have to pay the balance academic fee at the institution at the time of reporting. Thus, candidates must be prepared while reporting at the allotted institute.
IPU CET Counselling – What is Spot Counselling?
GGSIPU conducts a counselling round for filling the vacant seats after all the rounds of the counselling are concluded. The spot counselling round for IPU CET will be conducted in an online mode. Interested candidates in spot counselling will have to pay the spot counselling fee.
Spot Counselling Fee – Rs. 2,000 (non refundable)
All the candidates who have taken the CET 2020 will be eligible for participation in the spot counselling process. A candidate who has been allotted a seat in the online rounds of IPU CET counselling, and has confirmed the admission later by paying the part academic fee and reporting at the college, will also be eligible to participate in the spot counselling by paying an amount of Rs. 5,000 as the spot counselling fee.
Benefits of Participating in IPU CET Spot Counselling – GGSIPU officially treats this round as the last opportunity to get admission in any of the GGSIPU affiliated colleges. This round is advantageous especially for those candidates who don’t appear in any of the counselling rounds or for those who want to try their luck for college upgradation by any chance.
IPU CET Counselling – Detailed Process for Offline IPU CET Counselling 2020
GGSIPU will release the schedule for the offline counselling five days prior to the start of the counselling process. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, candidates may find a delay in the IPU CET counselling process this year. However, the counselling schedule for IPU CET will be intimated well in advance to the candidates.
As mentioned above, the IPU CET counselling for 43 courses including M.Tech is conducted in an offline mode. The stepwise procedure for the IPU CET offline counselling is as follows:
Step 1: REPORTING
- After the release of IPU CET offline counselling schedule, candidates will have to report at the venue.
- At the counselling venue, candidates will have to mark the attendance with the admission officer
- Also, candidates will have to carry all the documents, as stated along with the detailed counselling schedule
- Allotment of seats is only done if the candidate reports to the counselling venue in-person
Step 2: PAYMENT OF IPU CET COUNSELLING FEE
- At the time of marking the attendance, candidates will have to pay the counselling fee which will be non refundable in nature.
- All candidates who qualify the IPU CET as per the cut off and wish for admission have to pay the counselling fee.
Counselling Fee – Rs. 1,000 + service charges and taxes (as applicable)
Step 3: DOCUMENT VERIFICATION
- Candidates will have to produce all the documents as mentioned along with the counselling schedule.
- In case the candidate is not able to produce the documents on the specified date or is not able to appear for the counselling, the IPU CET seat allotment may be refused by GGSIPU.
Step 4: SEAT ALLOTMENT
- Candidates are called in order of merit, and the ones having a valid GATE score are given preference. Later, if the seats remain vacant, IPU CET qualifiers are considered for allotment of seats to M.Tech courses.
- Candidates who fail to report on the counselling day will be refused for the seat allotment. However, candidates who arrive late will be considered for allotment from the available seats at the time they arrive at the counselling venue, irrespective of their rank.
Step 5: PAYMENT OF ADMISSION FEES
- Candidates to whom the seats are allotted shall have to pay the admission fee on the spot.
- Non payment of fees will lead to the cancellation of the allotment, and the seat will be passed to the next best candidate.
- On payment of admission fee, the admission officer will issue an admission slip. Candidates must not forget to collect the admission slip.
- Candidates must check all the details mentioned over the admission slip. Discrepancies in the admission slip may lead to problems in the admission process.
Admission Fee – Rs. 40,000 (This amount will be adjusted in the college tuition fee of the candidates.)
IPU CET Counselling – Withdrawal of Admission after the IPU CET Offline Counselling 2020
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University provides an admission cancellation facility to the candidates who have a valid allotment from the first round. Candidates who want to withdraw their admission will have to file a request for the same, after which the admission officer will issue a withdrawal slip. Candidates will have to return both the copies of admission slips issued to them in order to get the withdrawal slip. The request for withdrawal has to be sent using a specific performa at the address mentioned below:

IPU CET Counselling – Second Round of Offline IPU CET Counselling 2020
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University conducts the offline IPU CET counselling in multiple rounds depending upon the vacant seats available in the participating colleges. The second counselling process will be the same as the first round of offline IPU CET counselling. However, the second round of IPU CET counselling may vary a bit for the candidates who took part in the first round counselling as well. Here are some key highlights of the IPU CET counselling second round:
- Candidates who did not report for the first round of counselling along with the candidates who were not called for the first round of counselling are eligible for the second round of IPU CET counselling.
- Fresh candidates will have to pay the counselling fee of Rs. 1,000. However, the candidates who’ve paid the counselling fee in the first round need not pay again.
- Candidates who got admission in the first round can also participate in the second round if they wish to change the programme/institute by depositing an amount of Rs. 5,000 in the form of a demand draft in favour of ‘Registrar, GGSIPU’ payable at Delhi.
- Candidates who get admission in the second round of IPU CET counselling will not be eligible for the management quota seats.
IPU CET Counselling – Open House IPU CET Counselling 2020
After the second round of counselling, the vacant seats reserved for specific criteria i.e. SC, ST, DEF, Pwd/PH, Minority, etc. will be converted to General category seats. Also, there will be a de-reservation of the unfilled seats. During the de-reservation process, the unfilled seats of outside Delhi category shall be converted to the Delhi quota seats and vice-versa.
Candidates must note that the open house counselling will only be conducted if the seats remain vacant.
IPU CET Counselling – Management Quota Admission
- Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University conducts IPU CET counselling for the management quota seats separately.
- As per the NCT of Delhi Government policy, 10% of total seats are reserved under management quota in the self financing institutions affiliated by GGSIPU.
- Moreover, government institutes or the self-financing minority institutes of GGSIPU don’t offer admission under management quota.
- Candidates who have been admitted in any of the rounds of the IPU CET counselling will be marked ineligible for the management quota seat counselling.
IPU CET Counselling – FAQs
