JEE Advanced Results – Score Calculation
Candidates who have appeared for both the papers of JEE Advanced will be considered for the Common Rank List (CRL).
How are JEE Advanced marks calculated for each subject?
Given below is the method of subject-wise scoring. We have taken an example of the calculation of total marks in Physics below:
Marks obtained in Physics = Marks obtained in Paper 1 (Physics) + Marks obtained in Paper 2 (Physics)
A similar process is followed for other subjects in JEE Advanced.
How are the aggregate marks calculated in JEE Advanced?
Aggregate Marks/Scores obtained in JEE Advanced = Aggregate marks in (Physics + Mathematics + Chemistry)
Important Note: The merit list for ST, SC and OBC NCL are released separately. A candidate must clear the qualifying cut off to be included in the rank list.
JEE Advanced Results – Tie Breaking Policy
If two or more candidates score the same aggregate marks, then the following tie resolving policy shall be applied to determine the JEE Advanced ranks:
- Candidates with higher positive ranks will be given a higher rank.
- If criteria 1 fails, candidates with greater marks in mathematics will be given a higher rank.
- If criteria 1 and 2 fail, candidates with greater marks in Physics will be given a higher rank.
- If still there is a tie, then it will be resolved by assigning the same ranks to the candidates.
JEE Advanced Results – Rank List
The rank list is prepared on the basis of aggregate marks scored in JEE Advanced Paper 1 and Paper 2, which is the sum total of marks secured by a candidate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. It is necessary for the candidates to secure the minimum prescribed marks – 1.) in each subject, and, 2.) in aggregate, to be included in the rank list.
JEE Advanced Results – Answer Key

JEE Advanced Results – Cut off
Cut off is the minimum marks that the candidates have to secure in order to be included in the rank list and subsequently get accepted by IITs for admission. IITs also prefer Minimum Qualifying Marks for Ranking (MQMR) which is the minimum score for JEE Advanced that a candidate is required to secure to be eligible for inclusion in JEE Advanced Common Rank List (CRL).
The cut-off marks for PwD candidates are similar to the lowest of the cut-off marks for General, OBC-NCL, SC and ST categories.

Candidates have to obtain higher positive ranks to be included in the JEE Advanced rank list. If this criterion fails, candidates who obtain greater marks in mathematics will be considered. If the first two parameters fail, those with greater marks in Physics will be given a higher rank.
