UP Lekhpal Exam 2022 – All You Need To Know About The Cheating Case

The UP Lekhpal Exam 2022, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), was held on 31 July 2022 for filling up a total of 8085 posts as Rajyaseva Lekhpal in the UP Board of Revenue, Lucknow. The admit card for the examination was released on 25 July, 2022. Centres for the single-shift examination were Ayodhya, Aligarh, Agra, Bareilly, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Moradabad, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi.

Strict guidelines were issued against the use of unfair means including the ban on carrying any electronic device. However, the suspects managed to sneak bluetooth devices into examination centres which were used for cheating. While speaking to the Times of India (TOI), Amitabh Yash, ADG, STF said that 15 bluetooth earbuds, 6 sim cards, 6 cells, 9 bluetooth devices card, 10 mobile phones, a PAN card, driving license and Rs 620 cash, have been recovered through the raid. The bluetooth device’s mic was reportedly embedded in an ATM card-like chip. Small clips of examination centres featuring the cheating process have also been released.

The snubbed gang leaders and candidates had reportedly taken help from the solvers to crack the UP Lekhpal exam (Main). Following a tip-off, the STF arrested two suspects – Narendra Kumar Patel and Sandeep Patel from Prayagraj, who were found solving the paper while seated in a car. The duo further provided information leading to other arrests which also included seven candidates.

Gang leader VijayKant, who was paid Rs 10 lakh by each student, provided them bluetooth devices and earbuds. Further, cheating mafia Pushpendra (arrested in Varanasi) and Jaisingh Patel (arrested in Kanpur) were instructed by Kant to keep the device on and dictate the answers to the candidates.

The solvers arrested hail from both UP and the state of Bihar. Other mafias reportedly include Kant’s assistant Dinesh Kumar Yadav and Sonu Kumar. The Police arrested candidates Dinesh Kumar Sah from Prayagraj, Dilip Gupta from Varanasi, Karan Kumar from Kanpur and solvers Sanjay Kumar Yadav (resident of Bihar), Ravinder from Moradabad, Mohit  from Meerut and Raju Kumar was snubbed at Lucknow.

UP Lekhpal Exam 2022 – Is it cheating or paper leak?

Leader of opposition in UP and Samajwadi Party head, Akhilesh Yadav, has demanded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s resignation alleging a paper leak in the UP Lekhpal exam 2022 Recruitment. Contradictory to the cheating claims made by state government officials, Yadav on 31 July 2022, posted a video of entrance paper leak from his official twitter handle and accused the ruling party of plotting against recruitments, causing people to remain unemployed.  He also said that the CM must resign since he is incapable of conducting a fair examination in the state.

However, in a report published by TOI, UPSSSC Chairman Praveer Kumar refuted the opposition’s claim. He said that there is nothing as a question paper leak since it happens before the examination and that these are “individual cases of impersonation”.
