New Delhi, 28 February 2022 – The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) is likely to release its date sheet for the ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) Semester-2 exams only after the official notification for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2022 has been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The major reason for doing that is to avoid any clash between the JEE Main 2022 exam and the ISC Semester-2 exam 2022.
Gerry Arathoon, the Chief Executive and Secretary of the Council of the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) stated in this regard, “Once they [the National Testing Agency] publish the dates of the JEE Main and NEET, we will set our dates so there is no clash of dates, especially for math and science subjects.”
Delay in CISCE Date Sheet to Avoid Clash with JEE
Lakhs of students appear for the JEE Main exam every year and any possible clash with any other major exam causes the students to face issues as they are unable to appear for both of the exams. The same is true for the clash between the ISC Semester-2 and JEE Main exams.
As many science students who will be appearing for the CISCE Class 12 Semester-2 exam in 2022 will also be appearing for the JEE Main 2022 examination, the board has decided to wait for the official JEE time table that will be released by the NTA soon. This will help CISCE create an exam date sheet that does not clash with the JEE Main 2022 exam.
CISCE Class 12 Semester-2 Exam Details
- CISCE has announced a new assessment plan that has bifurcated the academic session 2021-22 into two terms: Term-1 and Term-2.
- According to this plan, the ISC exams 2022 (Class 12) will be divided into two semesters with approximately 50% of the syllabus being covered in each semester.
- In most of the subjects, 30 marks are for internal assessment/practical and 70 marks are for the written exam.
- For subjects including Elective English, classical languages, foreign languages, and English(1 & 2), no internal assessment will be conducted. Hence, these exams will be of 100 marks each.
- A candidate has to score a minimum of 40% in each subject – as well as in total – to pass the exam.
