VITEEE Counselling – Dates, Process, Documents Required, Fee Details

Vellore Institute of Technology was earlier expected to conduct the VITEEE counselling 2020 in the month of May. However, since the VITEEE exam will now be held from July 29 to August 2 (postponed dates due to COVID-19), test-takers can expect the counselling process to be conducted in the last week of August.

Candidates who make it to the VITEEE merit list will satisfy the eligibility criteria for participation in the VITEEE counselling. VIT conducts VITEEE counselling in an offline mode in two phases. The university will call the candidates in order of their ranks for participation in the VITEEE counselling process. Participants of the VITEEE counselling will have to get their documents verified. 

After the completion of each round of VITEEE counselling, the authorities will allot seats to the candidates. Allotment of seats is done on the basis of multiple factors including merit of the candidates and preferences marked by them. For more details on VITEEE counselling 2020, read this article further.

What are the Important Dates of VITEEE Counselling 2020?

After the declaration of the VITEEE result, candidates will have to participate in the offline counselling process for admission at any of the VIT campuses. The participation in the VITEEE counselling is mandatory to get admission. Thus,  candidates must know all the important dates related to VITEEE counselling. VITEEE Counselling – Detailed Process

Vellore Institute of Technology conducts the VITEEE counselling in multiple steps. Candidates have to follow the below-mentioned steps to complete the counseling process:

Step 1 – Registration 

• VIT shall allot the counselling venue as per the merit of the candidates on its official website
• Candidates have to report at the counselling venue for registration purposes
• Candidates have to choose the preferred courses and campus while registering for VITEEE counselling
• This step will also involve the biometric verification of the candidate

Step 2 – Document Verification

After the completion of registration, candidates will have to produce some specific documents (original) along with two of their photocopies. The documents to be carried at the counselling venue are as follows:

• VITEEE admit card
• Counselling admit card (call letter)
• VITEEE result copy
• Class 10th board certificate (as a proof of date of birth) or any other age proof certificate
• Mark sheet of the qualifying examination
• Class 12th admit card (if the results are awaited)
• Copy of Aadhar Card
• Community Certificate (for SC/ST candidates)
• Nativity Certificate (for the candidates from J&K and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura)
• Demand draft drawn in favour of ‘Vellore Institute of Technology’, payable at Vellore

Step 3 – Allotment of Seats

• VIT University will release the day-wise vacancy report on its official website after the allotment for the respective day is done
• Vellore Institute of Technology will allot seats to the participating candidates based on their performance in VITEEE, preferences chosen during registration, number of seats available, etc. 
• Intimation of the provisional allotment will be made to candidates via the VITEEE candidate portal.

Step 4 – Payment of Fee

• Once the provisional allotment letter is received, candidates will have to pay the admission fee for the allotted institute and course.
• The counselling fee paid by the candidate at the time of registration shall be adjusted and the candidates will have to pay the balance fee.
• DD for the balance fee is to be drawn in favour of ‘Vellore Institute of Technology’, which will be payable at the respective campuses.
• Candidates will have to write their name, application number, rank and the allotted branch allotted at the on the reverse side of the Demand Draft.
• Candidates must be cautious of the last date for fee payment. Payment made by the candidate after the last date will not be entertained. 

What is the VITEEE Counselling Fee 2020?

Candidates selected in the first phase of counselling will have to submit a demand draft for Rs. 50,000 drawn in favour of ‘Vellore Institute of Technology’, payable at Vellore, to confirm the seats allotted to them during the counselling process. The confirmation amount includes a counselling processing fee of Rs. 12,000. Candidates will not get a refund for the counselling processing fee. However, the same is adjusted when the candidate joins the allotted institute. 

Submission of Documents at the Time of Admission

Similar to the way of document submission at the time of counselling, the candidates must carry two copies of all the documents when they report for final admission. These documents are: 

1. Photocopy of the provisional admission letter 
2. Mark sheet of the qualifying examination
3. Transfer Certificate/School Leaving Certificate (issued by last attended institute)
4. Migration Certificate
5. Community Certificate (for SC/ST category) 
6. Nativity Certificate (for candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/Ladakh and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura)
7. Four recent passport size photographs 
8. Admit Card for VITEEE 2020
9. Physical Fitness Certificate
10. Student Profile (if not submitted at the time of counselling)
11. Affidavit to be signed separately by Student, Parent and Hostel on Rs. 20/‐ non‐judicial stamp paper. (Format available on VIT website)

Candidates need to submit original copies of all the above mentioned documents at the time of admission.

VITEEE Counselling 2020 – Eligibility based on Ranks

Only eligible candidates can attend the counselling process for admission to VIT University. . The tentative eligible ranks for the participation in the VITEEE counselling process are given below. 

All the VITEEE 2020 rank holders from 1 to 99,999 are eligible to attend the counselling for admission to the following campuses of VIT:

• Vellore 
• Chennai 
• Bhopal (MP) 
• VIT-AP

VITEEE rank holders from 1,00,000 to 1,50,000 are eligible to attend the counselling at VIT Bhopal only.

VITEEE Counselling – Key Highlights

1. VIT allows all the qualifiers to appear for the VITEEE counselling only once.
2. Candidates will have to submit certain documents in original on the counselling day.
3. Cash is not accepted for counselling fee or admission fee. Candidates will have to produce a demand draft for the purpose of fee payment.
4. Biometric details of the candidate, as recorded on the examination day, are authenticated on the counselling day as well.
5. The balance fee must be paid by the candidate within the stipulated time frame for fee submission at allotted VITEEE campus. 
6. Candidates will not be allowed to change the branch or campus after the allotment has been done.
7. Candidates will not be able to withdraw their admission after the enrollment. However, if the candidate still wishes for the same, he/she will have to pay the tuition fee for the period his/her name remains on the roll. 

VITEEE 2020 – VIT Fee Structure 

Once the admission letter has been generated, candidates are required to pay the admission fee amount. The fee structure at Vellore Institute of Technology is divided into two groups based on the branches offered. VITEEE 2020 – Refund Policy

There can be instances when the candidate wants a withdrawal of admission. In case of the withdrawal, candidates will wish for the refund of the fee paid by them. Vellore Institute of Technology will refund the admission fee as per the norms of University Grants Commission. As already discussed, the counselling processing fee will be non-refundable in nature. Thus, candidates will not get the refund for the same. The refundable deposits made by the candidate will be refunded after the deduction of a certain amount.

VIT University Scholarships

Candidates are required to pay the fees for admission. However, candidates getting admission can avail certain scholarships based on their merit in the qualifying exam and VITEEE 2020.

✔️ What is the mode of VITEEE counselling 2020?

Vellore Institute of Technology will conduct the VITEEE counselling in offline mode only.

✔️ Is the VITEEE counselling fee refundable?

No. The counselling fee paid once will not be refunded. However, the amount will be adjusted in the tuition fee when the student accepts the allotment.

✔️ What will be the basis of the VITEEE seat allotment?

Candidates will be allotted a seat in the VIT campus based on their performance, preferences of campus and course, and the seats available in a particular campus.

✔️ Will I get an acknowledgement slip for documents submitted by me at the time of VITEEE counselling?

No. However, candidates can download the acknowledgement slip via the official website of Vellore Institute of Technology.

✔️ What if I am not able to report at the VITEEE counselling venue as per the allotted time?

Due to inevitable circumstances, if a candidate is not able to reach on time as per the counselling schedule, he/she must report to the VITEEE counselling team. Otherwise, their entitled seat shall be transferred to the next candidate.

✔️ Can anybody on my behalf appear for the VITEEE counselling 2020?

Yes. But the person appearing for the VITEEE counselling must have a blood relation with the candidate.
