UGC NET May 2021 Exam Postponed. Read Details.

The Ministry of Education has announced the decision of postponing the UGC-NET December 2020 cycle (May 2021) examination. This decision has been taken in regards to the safety and well-being of the candidates amidst another wave of COVID-19 which has hit the country recently. Minister of Education Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal โ€˜Nishankโ€™ also published the same UGC-NET postponement notice via twitter, adding that he had advised the National Testing Agency to reflect on the rescheduling of examination.

The UGC-NET December 2020 cycle (May 2021) examination for a total of 81 subjects was scheduled to be held from 2 May to 17 May 2021 in computer-based test (CBT) mode throughout the country. The NTA, in its notice, has stated that the โ€œrevised dates for the UGC-NET December 2020 cycle (May 2021) Examination will be announced later and at least 15 days before the examination.โ€

Recently, the news of UGC NET May exam admit card being delayed was doing the rounds, which increased the speculation of a possible postponement. At the same time, more and more students were requesting a delay in the UGC NET examination, especially after the postponement in NEET PG and JEE Main April session 2021.ย 

With this formal declaration of rescheduling of the UGC NET May exam, students are advised to keep their focus steady and use this interim time period to prepare even better for their exam.ย 

The UGC-NET 2021 May exam shall consist of two papers, both of which will include objective-type, multiple-choice questions. The UGC NET exam is conducted twice in a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for the posts of JFR and Assistant Professor.ย
