New Delhi, 30 March 2022: In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has made a decision to extend the validity of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) award letter up to one additional year (beyond the three-year duration) for all UGC-NET qualified candidates whose admission process remained affected previously. The notification of the same will be issued soon.

On March 28, 2022, UGC Chairman, Jagadesh Kumar tweeted, “UGC has decided to extend the validity period of the JRF award letter up to one year (beyond the three year period) for all those UGC NET qualified candidates whose admission process was affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. UGC-NET JRF 2022 – Validity Extended Up To 4 Years
As per the official tweet, the decision was taken in consideration of the challenges faced by the scholars during the COVID-19 pandemic. This information has been shared by the UGC Chairman, M. Jagadesh Kumar, on his official twitter handle.
UGC-NET JRF – Previously
UGC-NET for December 2020 and June 2021 cycles was conducted jointly by the National Testing Agency (NTA) between 20 November 2021 and 5 January 2022. The decision to conduct both the cycles together was made in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. About 12 lakh candidates registered for the UGC-NET examination during that cycle.
Note: The UGC-NET examination was conducted to administer 81 different subjects at 837 examination centres spread over 239 cities across the country.
