  • Stage-II (National level)

Nearly 2,000 scholarships are awarded to students from Class 10 to the doctoral level for different stages of education. Only those candidates who have cleared the Stage I exam are eligible to appear for the Stage II exam.

The NTSE stage 2 exam is divided into two parts– Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The final award is declared based on the combined scores of MAT and SAT. Each section had 100 questions comprising:

  • Science –  40 marks
  • Maths –  20 marks
  • Social Science –  40 marks

Each paper had a duration of 120 minutes with no negative marking system.

The first stage of NTSE 2020-21 was conducted on 12th and 13th December 2020 and the Stage 2 exam was scheduled to be held on 13th June 2021. However, due to the ongoing pandemic situation, the NTSE stage 2 exam stands postponed. Only after the COVID-19 situation normalizes in the country, NCERT would conduct Stage 2 of the NTSE 2021 examination.
