NMC MBBS Guidelines 2023 – Academic Session To Begin From Nov 15

New Delhi, October 14, 2022, NMC MBBS Guidelines 2023: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued new guidelines for the MBBS batch 2022-23. The commission also released the academic calendar for the MBBS academic year 2022-23 which will begin from November 15, 2022. As per the Compulsory Rotating Internship Training (CRMI) Regulations 2021, candidates will be required to complete a one-year internship starting from June 01, 2027 to May 31, 2028, and courses for the postgraduate candidates will begin from July 01, 2028.

NMC MBBS Guidelines 2023 – Academic Calendar Details

  • The first-year students will have subjects Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry for 13 months from November 15, 2022 to December 15, 2023.
  • The MBBS students in their second professional year will have subjects Pathology, Microbiology, and Pharmacology spanning over 13 months from December 16, 2023 to January 15, 2025.
  • The third year will be split into two parts where in part one, students will be learning Forensic Medicine and Toxicology and Community Medicine, or PSM for a total of 10.5 months. 
  • The second part of their third year consists of 17.5 months and will begin on December 2025 and end in May 2027 in subjects including General Surgery, General Medicine, Pediatrics, Gynecology, ENT, and Ophthalmology.

NMC MBBS Guidelines 2023 – Details

  • The guidelines state that notifications for exams and vacation schedules are subject to change and will be arranged according to the affiliated universities.
  • Regarding electives, two blocks of 15 days each are to be adjusted by respective colleges for:
    • pre and/or paraclinical branches
    • clinical branches
  • Supplementary exams with a gap of one month from regular exams are to be conducted and results are to be declared within 15 days.
  • There will be no supplementary batches.
  • All remaining guidelines will be in accordance with Graduate Medical Education Regulations (GMER) 1997.
  • Yoga and family adoption family through village outreach shall continue as for 2021-22 batch.
