NDA Exam Cut off – Expected and Previous Year Cut off, SSB Interview

NDA 2020 cut off is yet to be released for NDA (I) exam. The cut off has been delayed due to COVID 19 induced countrywide lockdown. Candidates need to secure the NDA 2020 cut off separately in the written exam and SSB Interview. On the basis of the final cut off, candidates are selected for admission to the Army/Navy/Air Force wings of National Defence Academy and Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme).

Latest: Union Minister Jitendra Singh had notified earlier that the postponed exam dates of UPSC Exams will be decided after assessing the COVID-19 lockdown situation as on 3rd May 2020. NDA (II) exam notification will be posted on June 10, 2020. SSB interview and the July NDA joining dates might get delayed too.

NDA Exam Cut off – Latest Updates

NDA 2020 exam will be conducted as NDA (I) and NDA (II). The notification of NDA (I) was announced in the month of January 2020 and the exam was supposed to be held in April 2020. Due to the corona outbreak and lockdown, the NDA (I) exam has been delayed. Admit card release is also delayed due to the same reason.

NDA Exam Cut off – Cut off Trend

UPSC NDA is a two-tier exam (Tier I & Tier II) and each tier carries 900 marks. The cadets are selected based on the aggregate cut-off in both tiers. To qualify for the second tier, which is the SSB interview, you have to score a minimum of 25% in each section of the Tier I written exam. The cut off is released out of a total of 900 marks (allocated to Tier I paper).

NDA Exam Cut off – SSB Interview

SSB interview is a 5-day long process carried out by the Selection Services Board. Interviewing officers, Group Testing Officers and the Psychologist test candidates arrive at their respective decisions from three different perspectives. 

Candidates who qualify written exams are required to submit the following documents:

  1. Original matriculation pass certificate in support of date of birth
  2. Original 10+2 pass certificate in support of educational qualification

Candidates must register themselves for the interview round within two weeks of the result declaration. The interview will be carried out in two rounds consisting of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP & DT) in the first round. Psychology tests, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Interview and Conference round will be carried out in the second round.

NDA Exam Cut off – FAQs

Q. What is an NDA cut off? What are the cut-offs for the written exam?

Cut off in the NDA is the minimum qualifying marks that have to be obtained by the candidates in its written exams as well as the final interview.

The written exam cut off for both NDA (I) and NDA (II) is out of 900 marks each.
On the other hand, the NDA cut off 2020 for final selection is the marks that have to be secured by the finally recommended candidates. The cut off for this last stage is out of 1800 marks i.e 900 marks of written exam + 900 marks of the interview.

It is expected that the NDA 2020 cut off might go up to 340 to360 marks in the written exams and the overall cut off could be around 720 marks (out of 1800).

Q. How is the NDA cut offs determined? Is there any sectional cut off in the NDA exam?

Candidates need to secure at least 25% in each subject of the NDA I and II exams. Cut offs are determined based on the following factors - the number of candidates appearing in the exam, total vacancies and exam difficulty level.

Q. How much does NDA (I) cut off differ from NDA (II) exam?

It is not possible to predict the cut off for both versions. They won’t be similar but based on previous years cut-offs, NDA (II) has seen higher cut off compared to NDA (I).
