Delhi Govt To Introduce French Language in Schools, Read Details

New Delhi, 4 May 2022: The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institut Français en Inde (IFI) to introduce French language teaching in Delhi schools. The MoU was signed in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Ambassador of France Emmanuel Lenain. As per the agreement, the IFI will assist DBSE and the Directorate of Education (DOE) to train teachers and resource persons in the communicative French language. These teachers in turn will teach the French language to the students of Delhi government schools.

Note

  • The cabinet of Delhi approved DBSE on 6 March 2021 and officially registered it on 19 March 2021. 
  • On 13 August 2021, the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) recognized DBSE, which has allowed DBSE to conduct exams and grant certificates. 
  • The DBSE currently has 30 Schools of Specialised Excellence affiliated with it.
