New Delhi, 17 February 2022 – The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi – Manish Sisodia – has announced that free coaching will be provided to students of government schools for entrance exams like National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). For providing the free coaching, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Avanti Fellows – a non-governmental organisation – to prepare students of Class 11 and 12 for engineering, medical, and other technical entrance exams.
According to Sisodia’s announcement, 6,000 children of classes 11 and 12 will be selected from Delhi government schools and provided free coaching in the first year of the program. He stated, “They will be provided free coaching for the preparation of various entrance examinations, through test series, necessary academic support [for these examinations], and regular mentoring during preparation.”
He further stated that “Earlier, this free coaching program was introduced in a few schools, on a pilot basis, and the results were excellent. More than 160 girls from SC and ST categories are getting free coaching for NEET by experts, under this programme.”
Free Coaching for Delhi Government School Students – Details
As per Sisodia, there are many children in Delhi who dream of becoming doctors and engineers, but their parents are not able to afford expensive coachings.
“Now this picture is set to change in Delhi. With this step of the government, thousands of future doctors-engineers, scientists, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) experts, among others, will now be prepared in the government schools of Delhi, who will make India proud globally,” he stated.
Note:
- Out of over 30,000 students that are enrolled in science stream across all Delhi government schools, 6000 will be selected as a part of the program.
- These students will get free coaching from JEE, NEET, and other educational experts.
- The students will then be able to use the teachings to prepare for entrance examinations.
- This programme will help students secure admission in top graduate programs and diploma courses in engineering, MBBS/BDS, pharmacy, nursing, paramedics, research programs, and other STEM-based fields.
