Coverage of Additional Fees and Support to Post-Matric ST Scholarship Students by Gujarat Government

New Delhi, August 16, 2023 – ST Scholarship – In a bid to support tribal communities, the Gujarat government has announced to cover additional cost in courses where the tuition fees exceed the scholarship amount provided by the Centre through the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities. 

Gujarat Tribal Development Minister Kuber Dindor announced the move in an official communication released on August 9, 2023.

Under the guidelines set forth by the Central government for the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Tribe Students, scholarships are provided for a range of courses offered by government-approved institutions.

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship mandates that the annual income of the parents of these students should not exceed ₹2.50 lakh.

The scholarship for MBBS/MD/MS courses is  ₹6 lakh, that of engineering courses is ₹2.50 lakh, and ₹1 lakh for other courses.

As per the notification released by the Gujarat government, if the fees for courses falling within these categories surpass the scholarship amount provided by the Centre, the remaining balance will be covered by the state government in the form of a scholarship.

The benefits will be available to students pursuing their education in government-approved institutions.
