Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad is likely to release the CAT 2021 notification by July-end and begin the registration process by August on the official website – iimcat.ac.in. The CAT notification 2021 would include details like the CAT 2021 dates, exam pattern and mode, eligibility, test sessions and slots, details of the management programmes offered, etc.
Expected CAT Dates 2021
- CAT 2021 notification may release in the last week of July 2021
- CAT application form 2021 may release in the first week of August 2021
- CAT 2021 application deadline is expected to be in the third week of September 2021
- CAT admit card 2021 is expected to release in October 2021 last week
- CAT 2021 exam date is likely to fall in November 2021 last week
- CAT 2021 result is likely to be out by the second or third week of January 2022
CAT 2021 – Expected Modifications
- Duration of Exam – In 2020, the CAT exam pattern was revised. The duration of CAT 2020 was reduced from 180 minutes to 120 minutes. Also, the sectional time limit was reduced from 60 minutes to 40 minutes. This year, the CAT exam pattern might or might not be reverted to the earlier pattern, based on the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country.
- Exam Slots – The exam slots for CAT 2020 were also increased to 3 from the previous 2, to ensure physical distancing and safety of the candidates. This year, however, the number of exam slots might be reduced back to two, if the pandemic situation is under control.
- Number of Questions and Total Marks – If the pandemic situation in the country comes reasonably under control, the number of questions in the CAT 2021 paper might be retained at 100 (for 300 marks). However, if that is not the case, the questions might be reduced to 74-76 (for a total of 222 – 226 marks).
- Application Fee – The application fee for CAT has been increased to Rs. 2,000 from Rs. 1,900 for general category candidates, and Rs. 1,000 from Rs. 950 for SC/ST category candidates. This fee is likely to be remain the same.
