New Delhi, 14 February 2023 – BSF Recruitment – The Border Security Force (BSF) is seeking candidates for the positions of Constable (Kennelman) and HC (Veterinary). Interested applicants may apply online at rectt.bsf.gov.in. The last date to submit applications is 6 March 2023.

This recruitment drive will fill 26 positions. There are 18 posts for HC (Veterinary) and 8 for Constable (Kennelman).

BSF Recruitment 2023 – Eligibility and Selection Process for the Posts of Constable (Kennelman) and HC (Veterinary)

Age Limit

Candidates for the positions of Constable (Kennelman) and HC (Veterinary) must be between the ages of 18 and 25.

Age Relaxation

  • Age restrictions will be relaxed by five years for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST).
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates will have an age relaxation of three years.
  • Ex-servicemen candidates, after deducting the period of military service from their age, will have the age relaxation of:
    • Three years for the unreserved category. 
    • Six years for the OBC category.
    • Eight years for SC/ST categories.
  • Department candidates (BSF personnel) with at least three years of regular and continuous service as of the closing date will have an age relaxation of:
    • 40 years for the unreserved category.
    • 45 years for SC/ST categories.
  • Children and dependent family members of those killed in the Gujarat riots of 2002 will have the age relaxation of:
    • 30 years for the unreserved category.
    • 33 years for the OBC category.
    • 35 years for SC/ST categories.
  • Widows/divorced women who have been judicially separated and have not remarried will have the age relaxation of:
    • 35 years for the unreserved category.
    • 38 years for the OBC category.
    • 40 years for SC/ST categories.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the post of HC (Veterinary):

  • Must have completed Class 12 from a recognised board.
  • Must possess a one-year course in Veterinary Stock Assistant from a recognised institution and at least one year of post-qualification experience.

Candidates applying for the post of Constable (Kennelman):

  • Must have completed Class 10 from a recognised board.
  • Must possess two years of animal handling experience from a government veterinary hospital or dispensary, a veterinary college, or a government farm. 

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure consists of two phases. While phase one includes a written test, phase two encompasses Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), documentation, and a medical exam.

First Phase 

  • The first phase of the examination, the written exam, will be held at various centres. 
  • There will be one composite paper lasting two hours. The question papers will be of the Objective Type, with multiple-choice answers on an OMR-based answer sheet.

Second Phase

Physical Standards Test (PST) For All Posts
  • Candidates selected for the second phase of the examination will be subjected to a Physical Standards Test (PST). 
  • The selection board will conduct PST to determine the candidates’ height, chest size, and weight.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) For All Posts

Candidates who pass the Physical Standards Test (PST) will be subjected to a qualifying Physical Efficiency Test (PET). It consists of the following events.

Run: Male candidates must run 1.6 kilometres in 7 minutes, while female candidates must run 800 metres in 5 minutes.

Long Jump: Male candidates must clear 11 feet in the long jump, while female candidates must clear 8 feet. Only three chances will be provided.

High Jump: Male competitors must clear 3.5 feet in the high jump, while female aspirants must clear 2.5 feet. Applicants will have a maximum of three attempts.

Documentation

  • Original certificates of candidates will be checked at the centre to confirm their eligibility. 
  • Applicants will be disqualified if they do not provide original documents such as proof of age, education or technical qualification, caste certificate, experience certificate, and so on.

Medical Examination

Candidates who pass all stages of the examination will be subjected to a Detailed Medical Examination (DME) conducted by a medical board to determine their fitness.

BSF Recruitment 2023 – Application Fee for the Posts of Constable (Kennelman) and HC (Veterinary)

Candidates must pay an examination fee of INR 100 plus service charges of INR 47.20 levied by the Common Service Centre (CSC). SC, ST, female, ex-serviceman, and BSF candidates are exempt from paying the fee, which can be paid in the following ways:

  • Net banking of any bank
  • Credit/Debit Card of any bank
  • Nearest authorised Common Service Centre
