Selection Process On the basis of merit

Assam Recruitment 2023 – Eligibility for Assistant Teacher and Science Teacher Posts for Lower and Upper Primary Schools

  • Candidates will be selected strictly on merit, taking into account reservations for Other Backward Classes (OBC), Minorities and Other Backward Classes (MOBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), ST (Plains), ST (Hills), Persons with Disability (PWD), and so on.
  • According to the government’s Small Family Norms policy, candidates with more than two living children from a single or multiple partners on or after January 1, 2021, will not be eligible for appointment.

Age Limit

  • As of 1 January 2023, a candidate must be at least 18 years old and no more than 40 years old for the unreserved category.
  • The age limit will be 42 years for ex-servicemen; 43 years for OBC, MOBC; 45 years for SC, ST(P), ST(H); and 50 years for PWD candidates.

Assam Recruitment 2023 – Assistant Teacher for Lower Primary Schools – Educational Qualification

  • Candidates who have passed the Assam Teachers Eligibility Test (ATET) or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) examination will be eligible to apply.

Additionally, candidates must have passed:

  • Class 12 or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

Or

  • Class 12 or its equivalent with at least 45% marks and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), as defined by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations 2002.

  • Class 12 or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)

Assam Recruitment 2023 – Assistant Teacher and Science Teacher for Upper Primary Schools – Educational Qualification

A candidate applying for the post of Assistant Teacher for upper primary schools:

  • Must be a graduate from a University Grants Commission (UGC) recognised university
  • Must possess a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B. Ed. or D. Ed. (Special Education) or B. Ed. (Special Education)
  • Must have passed in ATET orย  CTET for upper primary schools

A candidate applying for the post of Science Teacher for upper primary schools:

  • Must have completed B. Sc. from a UGC recognised university
  • Must possess a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or B. Ed. or D. Ed. (Special Education) or B. Ed. (Special Education)
  • Must have passed in ATET or CTET for upper primary schools in science and mathematics
