New Delhi, 29 March 2022: As per the recent initiative launched by the Government of India, a total of 21 new Sainik schools have been approved by the Ministry of Defence in partnership with numerous NGOs, the state government, and the private sector. The initiative further intends to set up about 100 new Sainik schools across the country. 

Approval of 21 New Sainik Schools – Objective 

The Government of India intends to set up 100 new Sainik schools in order to provide better education for students under the National Education Policy (NEP). The objective is planned to help students attract better employment opportunities.

Approval of 21 New Sainik Schools – Details

  • Out of the 21 newly planned Sainik schools, 14 of these schools will have residential arrangements whereas the remaining 7 will be day schools.
  • The new Sainik schools, despite their affiliation to the respective boards of education, will operate as per the Sainik School Society and its rules.
  • These schools, in addition to the regular board curriculum, will also impart Academic plus curriculum-related education under the Sainik school pattern.

Sainik School Admission Process

FOR Class 6
  • At least 40% of the candidates must have qualified for the All India Sainik School Entrance Examination conducted by NTA through e-Counselling.
  • Up to 60% of intake will be for candidates enrolled in the existing Sainik schools, who intend to seek admission under the new Sainik schools through qualifying a test for which the notification will be issued separately.
AISSEE-QUALIFIED CANDIDATES
  • Candidates who have qualified in the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination 2022 will be informed at their registered email id with NTA, regarding the opening of new approved Sainik schools and the procedure for applying to those schools.
  • Such qualified candidates who intend to seek admission in the newly approved Sainik school of their choice must register themselves for e-counselling at https://sainikschool.ncog.gov.in/.
  • Candidates are required to use their AISSEE 2022 application number for registering at the web portal for the same, after which, the applicant student can indicate a choice of up to 10 Sainik schools.
  • Schools will be allotted to registered applicants on the basis of the merit list for each school in accordance with the vacancy available.
FOR STUDENTS ALREADY ENROLLED
  • Candidates enrolled in the existing Sainik schools who intend to seek admission under the new Sainik schools through qualifying a test for which the notification will be issued separately.
  • Such candidates must refer to the Sainik school official web portal at https://sainikschool.ncog.gov.in/.
  • The academic session for approved new Sainik schools is likely to commence in the first week of May 2022. 
SECOND ROUND OF SAINIK SCHOOL APPLICATION
  • The next round is likely to be re-opened in the first week of April 2022.
  • Schools/NGOs may go through the QRs, MoA, and regulations for the new Sainik schools in a partnership model, available on the web portal.
  • Schools, NGOs, Trusts, Societies, etc., that have already registered and applied during the first round need not register or pay the registration fee again.
