What are the eligibility criteria?

Candidates planning to appear for the examination should verify the eligibility criteria notified by the university. Program-wise eligibility criteria are mentioned below.

B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Program

    • Minimum 45% marks in the Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2) or equivalent.
    • Relaxation of 40% marks for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
    • Applicants pursuing 12th grade in the 2024 session are eligible.

Total number of available seats – (110 + 10)

    • 110 seats to be allocated on the AILET merit list.
    • 5 seats each for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO candidates for direct admission on merit.
    • Foreign Nationals/OCIs/PIO are exempted from AILET.
    • Foreign Nationals/OCIs/PIO need to secure 65% marks in the qualifying examination.

Reserved seats

    • 1 supernumerary seat for Kashmiri migrants.
    • 2 seats for Jammu & Kashmir residents.

LL.M. One Year Program

    • Minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities).
    • Final year LL.B. students completing their degree in the 2024 session are eligible.

Total number of available seats: 70 + 10

    • 70 seats based on AILET merit.
    • 5 seats each for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO candidates for direct admission based on merit.
    • Foreign Nationals, OCI, and PIO candidates are exempt from AILET.

Reserved seat

    • 1 supernumerary seat for Kashmiri migrants.

Ph.D. in Law

Eligibility

    • Requirements of LLM or equivalent degree.
    • Minimum requirement of 55% marks.
    • UGC-JRF and Foreign Nationals are exempted from AILET.

Total number of available seats: 25 + 2

    • 16 seats shall be allocated on the basis of AILET merit list
    • 4 seats for fellowship through AILET merit list
    • 5 seats for UGC-JRF
    • 2 seats for Foreign Nationals

Ph.D. in Social Sciences viz., Political Science, Sociology, Criminology, Economics and English

    • Requirements of a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Sciences or Humanities.
    • Minimum requirement of 55% marks for General CategoryΒ 
    • Minimum requirement of 50% marks for SC/ST/OBC – Non-Creamy Layer/Differently Β  Β  Β  Β  Abled/Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
    • UGC-JRF and Foreign Nationals are exempted from AILET.

Total available seats for Ph.D. Programme: 4

    • Allocation of 4 seats among UGC-JRF, AILET, Foreign Nationals, and Fellowship recipients.

    • LL.M. : 100 multiple-choice questions covering various branches of law.
