UPMSP Class 12 Board Exams 2021 Cancelled; Special Committee to Decide Result Evaluation Method

New Delhi, 3 June 2021 – The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to cancel the UP Board class 12 board examination 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic. UP Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma, who also holds charge of the Secondary Education Department, announced this news during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today. 

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Twitter handle’s update states – “In view of the current circumstances of the COVID pandemic, the health safety of children is our top priority. 

With the inspiration of respected Prime Minister, @UPGovt, it has been decided that in the current academic session, the Board examination of 10th and 12th of the Board of Secondary Education will not be conducted.”

UP Class 12 Board 2021 – What Happened Earlier?

Last week, the UP government stated that the UPMSP Class 12 board exams 2021 would be conducted in the second week of July. However, on 1st June 2021, the Central Government, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, decided to cancel the CBSE Class 12 board examinations. Shortly after the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 board examination was declared, the CISCE Board also announced the cancellation of ISC Class 12 exam 2021. 

Soon after, other state boards like CISCE, MP board, RBSE, and HBSE also cancelled their respective state board exams. The decision to cancel the UP Board class 12 examination was taken thereafter.

UP Class 12 Board 2021 – Decision on Result Evaluation

It is expected that the UP Board will evaluate the Class 12 students based on their class 11th and pre-board results. 

UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma stated, “For 10th boards, class 9th and pre-boards marks will be considered and an average will be calculated. But for Class 12, a special committee will be set, who will decide how the results will be evaluated.”

Although not much information has been brought into the light regarding the evaluation of Class 12 board results, the UP board is expected to begin the process of forming the special committee soon. 

Nearly 5.6 million students had registered to appear for Class 10 and 12 UP board exams in 2021. Out of the total, around 3 million students were to appear in class 10 board exams, whereas nearly 2.6 million were gearing to appear for the class 12 examination.
