CBSE has issued a fresh notification regarding the conduct of examinations for Classes 9 and 11 and commencement of new academic session 2021-22. In the notification, the Board has suggested the Principals/Heads of institutions affiliated to CBSE to start the academic session 2021-22 (for Class 9 and 11) from 1 April 2021.
Earlier, CBSE had taken a decision to reschedule the Class 10 and 12 board examinations 2021 to May-June, due to the unprecedented situation caused by COVID-19. As a consequence, several schools across the country were seeking the Board’s advice regarding examinations for Class 9 and 11 and about the commencement of the new academic session. This recent notification issued by CBSE will give a lot of clarity to schools on the matter.
CBSE 2021-22 Guidelines – Conduct of Examinations for Classes 9 and 11
Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, CBSE noted in the notification that CBSE has provided sufficient time to the students to prepare for their Class 10 and 12 board examinations. It further stated that with an improvement in the COVID-19 situation, schools in a majority of states have opened, and it is expected that schools will soon open in the remaining states and UT’s also.
Under such circumstances, CBSE recommends the schools to identify and remedy the learning gaps for Class 9 and 11 students, and conduct examinations by strictly following the COVID safety protocols.
Dr. Bhardwaj also noted that, “This exam will also help in identifying learning gaps which could be addressed by the schools in the new academic session, at the beginning of classes, by having a bridge course specially designed to address learning gaps.”
CBSE Class 10 and 12 Application Deadline Postponed
Meanwhile, CBSE has extended the deadline to fill the application form 2021 for private candidates of Class 10 and 12. Private candidates can fill and submit their application forms from 22 February to 25 February 2021 up to 5:00 pm.
The decision of extending the last date to fill the application forms for Class 10 and 12 private students has been taken after the CBSE received several requests from previous year candidates stating that they were unable to fill their examination forms as private candidates.
