While a magnitude of students has been eagerly waiting for the exam dates of NEET 2021, the recent declaration of board exam dates might become a factor for rescheduling the NEET examination to July. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, while addressing parents, teachers and students in a LIVE streaming webinar through his Twitter handle on Dec 31, 2020, announced that the CBSE 10th and 12th board examinations 2021 will be conducted from May 04 to June 10, 2021.

What Do We Know About Various Board Exam Schedules?

Although the actual dates of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 are unknown, the Board exam dates between the month of May and June may further push the NEET exam schedule to June or July. After the recent announcement of CBSE Board Exam 2021 dates, many State Boards have also shared their Class 10 and 12 board examination dates. 

For many State Boards, the probable examination dates fall in May. Talking about Maharashtra State Board, the HSC Board exams are expected to be conducted after 15th April 2021. The Himachal Pradesh board exams are scheduled to begin from 4th May 2021. On the other hand, the Assam Board exams will begin from 12th May 2021 and from 15th May 2021 for Class 12 and 10 respectively

What to Know About NEET 2021?

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has positive news about the NEET exam. As per a recent announcement, the NEET exam will be conducted twice a year from 2021 onwards without any disruption. However, the government is yet to make any official announcement regarding the dates of NEET 2021 exam. Nevertheless, the Union Minister had asserted that the exams will not be cancelled.

According to his statement, “NEET 2021 will not be cancelled as it will be a big loss for the students and the nation. We have postponed the NEET exam thrice in 2020. Besides, we have allowed the students to change their exam centres too. We could have cancelled the exam but it would have been a great loss for students and the country.”

Besides this, since NTA (National Testing Agency) will be conducting NEET 2021, its authorities are expected to announce the NEET Application form and examination schedule soon on the official website of NTA – www.ntaneet.ac.in. Similarly, the state quota related NEET schedule will soon be shared in a notification by the Medical Counselling on its official website – www.mcc.nic.in 

Concerns about NEET Syllabus 2021

CBSE has reduced 30% of the syllabus for Class 10 and 12 Board exams. However, there is no information about the reduction in the syllabus of NEET exam. Numerous students have requested the Union Minister to reduce the syllabus for this competitive exam as they have not prepared well due to the distress caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. Updates on NEET Syllabus 2021

The NEET syllabus and marking scheme will be shared online. The medical entrance examination will be divided into three sections – PCB:

  1. Physics
  2. Chemistry
  3. Biology

The NEET syllabus will cover the topics covered taught in Classes 11 and 12. The NEET 2021 admission process will be conducted online and the application fee is expected to be Rs 1500. The duration of this test might be 3 hours and 1,248 medical colleges are expected to consider the NEET 2021 score. The examination will be conducted in offline mode.
