JEE Main 2021 Controversy – New Security Features Added

Following the discovery of a cheating scam during the JEE Main 2021, NTA has introduced a number of security features to the examination.

Last year, despite safeguards in place, numerous JEE Main centres were breached, and certain specialists began taking exam on the candidates’ behalf. The case was sent to the CBI; Affinity Education Pvt. Ltd., a coaching academy was booked for alleged misconduct. Having been promised the surety of an engineering seat, candidates had allegedly paid significant amounts of money to the coaching institute. Specific exam centres, including Sonipat, were targeted.

Added Verification – Hence, to ensure that individuals entering the system are genuine applicants who can be further traced back, NTA has now introduced a verification feature during the registration phase. Applicants will now have to enter the OTP obtained on their registered phone number once they sign up, and they also will be required to enter the OTP provided on their registered e-mail address prior to fee submission.

Authentication Process – An arrangement has also been introduced for authenticating the photograph while filling out the application form online. While filling out the form, a field has been provided to capture the applicants’ Aadhar number on a voluntary basis.

Note: To receive notifications from NTA, applicants must install the SANDES application on their mobile phone (in addition to email/SMS). A confirmation page and a copy of the score card will be sent to the applicants’ registered e-mail address. NTA provides all applicants with an additional option of UMANG as well as DigiLocker to access their documents such as the admit card, confirmation page, score cards, and so on.
