New Delhi, 24 September 2021 – For the first time ever, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has opened online applications for women candidates for National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) II Examination. Women candidates who are interested to appear for NDA/NA exams on 14 November 2021 can visit the official website i.e., upsconline.nic.in to fill and submit the application online till 8 October 2021 (6 pm).

Why have the NDA 2021 applications been reopened?
The decision to reopen the online applications for NDA/NA 2021 has been taken by the UPSC after the Supreme Court asked the Centre to allow women candidates to appear for the NDA exams in November this year. Rejecting the government’s request for delay in admissions to women candidates, the Supreme Court said, “Women must be allowed to take the November 2021 exams. Cannot defer for one year. Medical standards should be tentatively notified. UPSC to issue a corrected notification for the November exam.”
Is this NDA application window strictly for women candidates?
Yes. The registration for NDA II 2021 has been reopened strictly for women candidates. As per the official notice, if a candidate of any gender other than female applies, the candidate will be liable to a penal action in terms of Rule 7 of the ‘Rules for this Examination’ including debarment for 10 years from appearing at all future examinations/recruitments of the UPSC.

What’s the application fee?
There is no fee requirement for women candidates who want to apply for the NDA II November exams.
How many positions are open for the women candidates through NDA 2021?
The number of vacancies available for women candidates in the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy or INA (10+2 cadet entry scheme) is still to be announced.
What is the NDA 2 age limit for women?
A woman candidate must be a minimum of 16.5 years and maximum of 19.5 years of age during the commencement of the course.
What is the NDA 2 educational criteria for women?
If a women candidate is interested to apply for the army wing of NDA, she should have passed Class 12th of 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination conducted by any state education board or university.
To apply for the Air Force and Naval wings of NDA and for the 10+2 cadet entry scheme at INA, a woman candidate must have passed Class 12th with physics, chemistry, and mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of school education, or equivalent, conducted by a state education board or university. Women candidates who are appearing in Class 12 under the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent exam can also apply.
