New Delhi, 20 December 2021 – To help students practice well for their competitive exams like NEET (UG) and JEE (Main), the National Testing Agency (NTA) has launched a mobile application known as the ‘National Test Abhyas’ app. This mobile app has been made with the vision of facilitating students with access to high quality online mock tests free of cost.
National Test Abhyas App – Registrations till Now
On 13th December 2021, Minister of State for Education, Subhas Sarkar, highlighted the surge in the number of students registering for the free mock test service, as a written record to the Lok Sabha. As per that written document, over 14.11 lakh students have registered in the National Test Abhyas mobile app for test practice for NEET (UG). He also pointed out that 81.24 lakh sessions of the mock test have already been conducted till date.
Similarly, in case of JEE Mains, 50.73 lakh sessions of the mock test have been conducted and 9.59 lakh students have registered for the test practice.
National Test Abhyas App – Information in Detail
The National Test Abhyas app is available on both Google Play Store and IoS platforms. Students from all over the country can access the app by visiting the App Store. As of now, JEE Mains and NEET full syllabus tests are made available on the National Test Abhyas app.
The test can be given both online and offline. Regarding offline, one has to download the test and later they can solve the questions.

Launch of Swayam
The Government of India has launched a new platform known as the SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds). This platform offers interactive course content such as:
- Video lectures
- Reading material
- Self-assessment through tests and quizzes
- Online discussion forum for clearing doubts
A content-rich initiative, it is available for students from Class 9 to postgraduation. SWAYAM is designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy, i.e., access, equity and quality. The content is available free of cost on dedicated DTH channels of SWAYAM PRABHA. Apart from the National Test Abhyas app, students can also avail free coaching from this platform.
UGC’s Necessary Regulations for Virtual University
To promote online education, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has notified necessary regulations. These regulations will facilitate the Universities to offer full-fledged online programmes. Moreover, they have also notified Credit Framework for Online Learning Courses via SWAYAM Regulations, 2021, thereby allowing up to 40% of the total courses being offered in a particular programme in a semester via online learning courses. The programme will be offered through the SWAYAM platform.
