JEE Main Application – New Dates, How to Submit, Fee, Direct Links

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the official JEE Main application form 2021 for the March session on 2nd March 2021. Recently, the NTA decided to re-open the application form of JEE Main March 2021 examination. Candidates who are aspiring to get admissions in undergraduate programs in NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) etc. in the next academic year i.e., 2021-22, can visit the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in to access the ‘JEE (Main) 2021 New Registration and Registration Form Correction’ facility.

Note: Candidates must note that there is some confusion pertaining to the last application form submission date, due to the official notice put up by NTA. As per the official notice, while March 9 (9 pm) as well as March 10 (up to 9 am) has been mentioned as the deadline to submit the JEE Main 2021 online application form, March 10 (up to 11:59 am) has been referred to as the deadline for the final fee payment. In such a case, candidates are advised to fill and submit their JEE Main application form 2021 by March 9 (9 pm) to avoid any issues later.

Meanwhile, candidates must not be disheartened if they aren’t able to register for the March session of JEE Main 2021. As NTA has announced to conduct JEE Main exam 4 times a year from 2021, the JEE Main registration process will also be held 4 times before the respective exam dates.

  • The first session has been successfully conducted from 23rd February to 26th February 2021.
  • The second session is scheduled to be conducted from 15th March to 18th March 2021
  • The third session will be held from 27th April to 30th April 2021
  • The fourth session is scheduled to be conducted from 24th May to 28th May 2021

To fill the JEE Main application form 2021, candidates have to follow several steps including registering themselves online, filling in the asked information, payment of application fee, uploading documents, and final submission of the filled application form. While the male candidates have to pay Rs. 650 as the application fee, female/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates have to pay Rs. 350 for the same.

By qualifying for the JEE Main examination, candidates will get a chance to get admission into UG engineering programs in various IITs, NITs, CFTIs, and other renowned institutions.

JEE Main Application 2021 – Current Registration for B.E./BTech Only

In continuation of the public notice dated 16th December 2020, NTA informed that March and April sessions will be conducted for JEE Main Paper 1 only.

Candidates must note that the JEE Main 2021 March (Session-2) and April (Session-3) exams will be conducted only for Paper 1 (i.e., B.E./BTech). All those aspirants who wish to appear for B. Arch (Paper 2A) and B. Planning (Paper 2B) will have to wait till the May 2021 session of JEE Main 2021.

Candidates who want to apply for the JEE Main March exam are advised to submit their JEE Main application form 2021 by March 9 (9 pm). Documents Required for JEE Main Application 2021 (Indian Candidates)

Before candidates start filling up their JEE Main registration forms 2021, they need to cross-check and have the soft-copies of the below-mentioned documents ready:

  1. Class 10th certificates
  2. Class 12th academic details (mark sheet)
  3. Aadhaar Card or Aadhaar Enrolment Number
  4. Scanned images of passport, voter ID, or any valid Government ID
  5. Valid email ID and Mobile Number

JEE Main Application – Form Filling and Submission

Candidates need to fill up the application form by visiting the official NTA JEE website (https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/). Before the application process, candidates have to complete the process of JEE Main registration. The registration process is important to later download the admit cards/hall tickets and sit for the exam. Since the process of registering for JEE Main is online, no other modes are accepted to apply for the entrance test.

Candidates must download the JEE Main information bulletin/notification and go through the eligibility criteria carefully before applying and submitting the JEE Main application form 2021. Applications that do not comply with the instructions from the examination authority are liable to be rejected.

Step-by-Step Process to Fill and Submit JEE Main Application Form 2021

Step 1 – Registration

1. Visit the JEE Main 2021 official website – https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/ or directly CLICK HERE

2. Click on the JEE (Main) March 2021 Session: Fill Registration Form link present on the homepage

3. When the page is redirected to the registration page, click on New Registration 

4. A new page will open containing important instructions and procedure for online submission of JEE Main application form

5. Read the instructions carefully and check the box beside ‘I have downloaded Information Bulletin, read and understood all the Instructions therein as well as those mentioned above, and filling up the online application form accordingly.’

6. Click on the Click here to Proceed tab

7. Fill in all the asked details such as name, educational qualifications, etc., and complete JEE Main registration 2021

8. After filling the details, click Submit

Step 2 – Upload Scanned Documents

1. Log in to the application site using the application number and password, sent on your email.

2. Upload the scanned documents:

  • Image of passport size photograph
  • Image of Signature

Step 3 – Pay Application Fees

1. Once Step 2 is complete, you will be directed to the fee payment page

2. Choose the payment mode. Pay the JEE Main application fee through any one of the available payment modes:

  • Internet Banking
  • UPI or Paytm*

JEE Main Application 2021 – Guidelines for Uploading Photograph and Signature

  1. The photograph should not be taken wearing sunglasses or a cap
  2. Polaroid and Computer-generated photographs are not acceptable
  3. Photos of candidates wearing spectacles are allowed only if they use them regularly
  4. Unclear photographs are liable to be rejected
  5. Forehead, eyes, nose, and chin should be visible and the print should be of clear contrast
  6. The photo should not have ‘red eye’
  7. Self-composed portraits or photos taken using mobile may result in rejection of the application
  8. Main features of the face should not be covered by cloth, hair, or shadow
  9. For scanned signature, the scanner resolution should be a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch)
  10. The colour set should be Colour to True Colour
  11. Candidate has to sign on white paper with a black ink pen
  12. If the candidate’s signature on the answer script does not match the signature on the admit card, the candidate will be considered rejected.

JEE Main Application 2021 – Fee Structure

Candidates need to pay the registration/application fee to appear for JEE Main 2021. Before making the payment, candidates should carefully read all the eligibility criteria. Candidates must note that the application fee amount will not be refunded under any circumstances.


Before filling up the form, the candidate is advised to make a duplicate copy and fill it up first. Any mistakes or fields left out accidentally may lead to the rejection of the application form.

Flexible Registration Fee Payment Option

To make the JEE Main registration procedure more student-friendly (financially), NTA has provided students with the option to register themselves for one session or more than one session (March /April /May 2021) together and pay the exam fee accordingly.

In case a candidate wishes to apply for only one exam session, he/she has to only pay the application fee for the examination of that session during this current registration period. However, if they want to apply again for the remaining April/May sessions, they can do so when NTA again opens the registration window before the other two JEE Main exam sessions.

Furthermore, NTA also stated that the candidates who have already applied for the entrance exam can carry forward their paid JEE Main application fees to another session of JEE Main 2021.

Documents to Keep After Submitting JEE Main 2021 Application Form

Post JEE Main registration process, candidates need to preserve the list of documents highlighted below:

  • JEE Main admit card 2021 issued by NTA and downloaded from the official website
  • JEE Main registration confirmation mail and print out of the same
  • Few passport size photographs, same as used while filling JEE Main application form

What After JEE Main Application 2021?

After the JEE Main application process gets completed successfully, NTA releases the admit cards for the upcoming examination. Candidates can find their respective admit cards from the official NTA JEE website once the exam authority releases them.

They are required to carry the hardcopy of the admit card along with the COVID-19 self-declaration form on the date of examination. No candidates will be allowed to sit for the exam if they fail to present their admit cards.

JEE Main Application – Form Correction

The JEE Main form correction facility is a one-time provision for candidates to make changes in the details of the application form. In case candidate/s have made any minor mistake or wish to edit any submitted detail after the final submission of an online JEE Main registration form, they can modify it by following the below process:

  1. Visit the official JEE main page – www.jeemain.nta.nic.in
  2. Login using the application number and password
  3. Click on the ‘JEE Main Correction in Application Form 2021 link’ tab
  4. Read the instruction carefully and click on Proceed for JEE Main correction window
  5. Make all the required corrections
  6. Click on the ‘Submit’
  7. Take a printout of the application form after making corrections and keep it safe till the completion of the admission process

What Can Be Changed/Edited During JEE Main Form Correction?

NTA has provided permission to edit/ change specific factors in the JEE Main application form 2021:

  1. Choice of Paper – The choice of paper can be edited/ changed. In case candidates opt for an additional paper, the balance fee needs to be paid.
  2. Personal Information – Spelling mistakes in names, parent’s names can be corrected.
  3. Language of Examination – Candidates can change the language of examination from one to another.
  4. Academic Details – Details related to school, year of passing, and qualifying exam can be rectified.
  5. Exam Centres – Students can even change the exam centres within the given rectification period and not after that.
  6. Category – NTA allows candidates to make changes in the category as well
  • Candidates need to pay a balance fee if they change their category from reserved to general
  • No fee will be refunded if the category is changed from general to reserved

JEE Main Application Photo Correction

  1. Visit the official JEE main page – www.jeemain.nta.nic.in
  2. Click on the ‘Image Correction JEE (Main) 2021’ link
  3. Enter the application form number and password to log in
  4. Upload the corrected photo as per the NTA guidelines
  5. Click on Submit

JEE Main 2021 Registration Statistics – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has received close to 22 lakh registrations for all four sessions of JEE Main 2021, out of which around 6.6 lakh students have registered for the first session of the exam in February.

Out of a total 21,75, 183 registrations for all 4 cycles of JEE Main 2021 exam –

JEE Main Application – Retrieval of Password

There may be scenarios when candidates may forget their password to the JEE Main application portal. In such cases, candidates need to follow the below steps:

1. Visit the official website – https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/

2. When the login window opens, click on the ‘I can’t access my account’ tab

3. Click on ‘I forgot my password’

4. Select one of the following options to get a new password

  • Ask to send a reset link to the registered email id
  • Verification code sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number
  • Security Question and the answer is chosen during JEE Main registration

JEE Main Application 2021 – FAQs

What is the JEE Main application fee amount?

For female, SC, ST, PWD candidates, the JEE Main application fee is Rs. 325, whereas General, OBC, EWS, and Other category candidates have to pay Rs. 650 for the same.

For foreign students, the application fee is Rs. 3000 for General, OBC, EWS, and Other category candidates and Rs. 1500 for female, SC, ST, PWD candidates. This application fee is inclusive of GST.

What is the procedure for payment of JEE Main 2021 registration fees?

The registration fee for JEE Main exam 2021 has to be paid online. Candidates can pay in any one of the online payment modes -
