CAT Eligibility Criteria 2022: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore has issued the notification regarding the eligibility criteria for the Common Entrance Test (CAT) 2022. The eligibility criteria consist of regulations regarding reservation allotment, educational qualifications, documents required, and more. 

The application process for CAT 2022 started on August 3, 2022, and will end on September 14, 2022. The admit card for CAT was released on September 27. The CAT exam date is November 27, 2022. It will be a computer-based exam and the total duration of the exam will be 120 minutes.

The online application fee for the General category candidates is Rs. 2300, whereas the application fee for the Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), and People with Disabilities (PwD) is Rs. 1150.

CAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria – Educational Qualification

• Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade.
• The SC, ST, and PwD aspirants must pass their bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 45% marks.
• As mandated by a Parliamentary Act, the degrees must be conferred by any accredited institution or college. According to Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, the institute must be proclaimed to be deemed to be a university.
• Applicants who are expecting results or who are sitting for their respective bachelor program’s final semester examination are also eligible to apply. However, individuals who are awaiting their results will only be permitted to enrol in the programme provided they produce a letter from the institution’s chief administrator confirming that they have fulfilled all prerequisites for the undergraduate degree.
• Applicants’ percentages of marks will be evaluated using the standards used by their accredited college. The method used by the respective universities will determine how to convert grades and other grades, such as CGPA, into percentages of marks.
• If an institution claims that it has no such policy in place, the student’s CGPA will be converted into a percentage of marks by dividing it by the highest CGPA that can be achieved and multiplying the result by 100.

CAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria – Reservation Criteria

• Scheduled tribes and scheduled castes are entitled to 7.5 percent of the available seats.
• Twenty-seven percent of the seats are given to candidates from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category who fall within the “non-creamy” layer.
• Ten percent of the seats are allocated to candidates from economically weaker sections (EWS).
• In accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act of 2016 (RPwD Act 2016), five percent of seats must be reserved for PwDs (with at least 40 percent disability).
• Applicants from the reserved categories must carefully review the qualifying requirements prior to applying.

CAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria – Document Verification

• Applicant must provide all of their mark sheets, along with verified copies, to prove their eligibility at the time of the interview.
• The original degree certificate, all semester and year grade transcripts and their attested copies, must also be submitted for verification at the time of enrolment in the programme if a candidate is selected for it.
• The original caste/class and disability certificates, as well as a physical copy, must be shown by SC, ST, NC-OBC, EWS, and PwD candidates at the time of their interview.
• Additionally, they must present the paperwork listed under “Marksheets and Degree Certificates.”
• Candidates who have been chosen for an interview and are in their final year of an undergraduate degree programme or have an equivalent qualification must bring an authentic certificate from their institution’s dean, registrar, or director attesting that they received at least 50% of the required marks (or an equivalent CGPA).
• Candidates who fall under the SC, ST, or PwD categories must show the same proof that they received at least 45% of the total possible marks.
• Candidates must bring an authenticated copy of the identical original certificate to the interview.

CAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria – Instructions for Reserved Categories

• If a candidate falls within the SC or ST categories, their caste or tribe must be in the list of the Government of India schedules.
• A copy of the SC/ST/NC-OBC/EWS/PwD certificates must be uploaded when registering for CAT. If a candidate forgets to upload a copy of their caste or class certificate, their CAT application will be rejected.
• The SC/ST/NC-OBC/EWS/PwD certificates must be given at the interview along with a photocopy. The certifications must also be presented when registering for any IIM programme. The candidate won’t be considered for the reserved category if this isn’t done during the post-CAT selection procedure.
